Our French door freezer door handle has slowly been loosening. There were no screws visible to tighten, so I couldn't do much about it. Today the handle popped off. Nothing is broken in the handle but the clips in the handle are loose. I can tighten them, but am not sure how the handle is reattached.
I had this problem with the bottom freezer door of my Amana. What I did was slide off the entire door handle by applying pressure pushing toward the right to get the handle off. Once the handle was off, I slid the clip (which was still clipped on to the door) off and screwed it back on to the handle. Once the clip was tightly secured to the back side of the handle, I carefully slid the handle bar back on to the door by sliding it to the left back on to the door clips until it clicked securely back into place.

Re: Freezer Door handle came off after 1 yr.
There should be screws in the clips to tighten and then put the handle back on to the bolts on the door thru the big holes in the handle clips and slide the handle the opposite way very hard to lock it in.

Many times the handle is slid on from one side or the other onto the screws. Try sliding the handle off by gently putting a screwdriver or putty knofe under the handle on the side that is still attached and pushing the handle sideways. This should remove the handle so you can remove the mounting screw and get it back on the door. then you can slide the door handle back on after getting the screw attached on the door again.
There is two allen set screws for each hand at both end and they are facing each other on the handles.. Remove the allen screw and put a very minute speck of jelly on each screw---small-small amount. This will kept the set screws from loosen up. GB...stewbison
look for a small hole on one side of the handle. There should be a set screw there you can tighten. (the handle attaches to a ball shaped peg under the handle, and does not attach from the inside of the door)
if there are no visible hanlde screws( sometimes tiny allen wrenches under handle VERY SMALL).. if not the the handly merely pulls off to the left, and then the mounting hardware can be tightendd ad refit by sliding back to the right
There is a "set screw" on the underside of the posts that connect the handle to the mounting posts on the face of the door of my Jenn-Air bottom freezer. Use an Allen wrench to loosen the set crew, which is very small (my Jenn-Air requires a 3/32" Allen wrench), and then tighten the bolt on the mounting post on the face of the freezer door. Position the handle over the post, then tighten the set screws with the Allen wrench. Cynthia
My dad's freezer handle is loose, model ABB2224DEW. Went to partselect.com and located drawing of freezer door parts. Found a link to a "do-it-yourselfer" that describes removal and replacement of the handle. Hopefully this helps.
Replacement of freezer door handle. 1. Removed freezer door handle. First I read the freezer door handle removal instructions in the Amana refrigerator user guide. Removing the handle requires inserting a plastic card at least 1.5 inches under the left end of the right side of the handle so it releases the butterfly clip latch on the freezer door. Next I pulled the right side of the handle to lift it away from the freezer door. Then still holding the handle away from the door, at the spot that is 1.5 inches from the inside of the right side of the handle, I held the plastic card vertically and slid one corner of it between the handle and the freezer door and worked the card down until it released the butterfly clip latch. Keeping the card at the same space under the handle so the latch was released, I then turned the card to the left until it was horizontal and was lifting the left end of the right door handle away from the freezer door. I then slid the handle across the card to the left until it cleared both door butterfly clip latches and it lifted off the door. 2. Installed freezer door handle. First I read the freezer door handle installation instructions in the Amana refrigerator user guide. The handle is curved on one edge and must be installed the curved side down. Correctly installed, the outside ends of the handle curve upward and the handle curve is down so it looks like a frowning mouth. Next holding the handle curved edge down, I turned it up so I could see the brackets and held it against the door. I lined up the handle brackets slightly to the left of the butterfly clips on the freezer door. Next I turned the handle with the brackets against the freezer door and slid it slightly to the right until the left side of the handle held onto the door butterfly clip by itself but was not latched. Then I lined up the right handle bracket with the right freezer door butterfly clip and carefully slid the whole handle to the right until I heard the left butterfly clip latch click. Next I slid the handle back slightly left once more and then slid it back to the right until I heard the right butterfly clip latch click.
