Hi,
You can find the memory type and specifications for your laptop here:

http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Business%20Notebook%20nc6220

When you get the memory, it'll come in 1 or 2 little sticks with gold contacts. You'll need to turn off your laptop completely, flip it over and lay it flat on a table. You'll need a small phillips head screwdriver to open the access panel. Your laptop has one or more access panels on the bottom. One of them will have memory modules in it. You'll know when you find it because the sticks are laying flat near the surface. TO remove them, there are two small clips on the sides of the module that hold it in place. If you unclip the module by pressing outward on these clips, the module will "pop up" so you can remove it. Install the new RAM modules by reversing this process and booting the laptop up. Hope this helps!

Welcome to Fixya. Memory Upgrade for Averatec AV3270-EE1 Laptop, the Averatec AV3270-EE1 Laptop takes the PC2700 DDR SDRAM SODIMMs Memory Type, and comes installed with 512 MB (removable) of Memory. You can upgrade your Averatec AV3270-EE1 Laptop to up to a maximum of 1.0 GB Memory, the system has 1 socket to install Memory, already with 512 MB (removable) standard Memory installed.

I have a vgn-b3vp (pcg-5b1m) sony laptop, can i upgrade the memory if it has 512 of none-removable memory and only 1 bank.

Yes, you can use the 1 bank and get higher graded memory, another 512 in the 1 bank would make 1gig, you can probable get as much as 2 gig in the bank to make a total of 2.5 gigs by buying a 2 gig memory stick.

I currently have just 256mps of memory ram on my dell dimension 2400. i want to upgrade. my manual says the maxium is 1024 mbs. can i install 1gb of ram or should i get 512 mbs? i have windows xp os. thank...

1024 is 1 gig of ram. Some older motherboards require you to put in ram in pairs but I don't think your system is one of those but if you have manual or can download manual you should check to be sure. If you don't need a pair then yes you can remove the 256 meg stick and add a 1 gig stick or you can put in 2 512 meg sticks. Should run a lot better as windows recommends at least 512 megs of ram.

Upgraded Dell Dimension 3100 memory to 2 Gigs - Windows XP fails

Did you add the two sticks with the 512 or remove the 512 and add the two 1gb sticks? Try booting the machine with ONLY the 1gb sticks in.

Your machine supports 1gb modules but they can't be higher than 533MHz. Check that the memory you purchased was either PC3200 (400MHz) or PC4200 (533MHz) and is 1.8v. If you post the part number off of one of the modules I can look it up for you.

Toshiba sattelite

The problem must be the amount of total memory. Maybe the board supports only 1 gig. Chek the manual.

Toshiba l45-7423 laptop has two memory slots. With 512 in each, runs ok. With 2 gig in top slot, 512 in bottom slot, runs ok. with 2 gig in bottom slot, says it has memory errors. this limits me to 2.5 gig...

HI embreelynn,

just want to check, did you left the top slot open when you put the 2gig in the bottom slot, if you do, I suggest you try it with the 512 in the top slot and the 2gig in the bottom, the reason is that some mobo implements "banking" which means that you'll have to fill in the 1 mem slot before the using 2nd, 3rd and so on.

hope this helps, regards.

Memory/Graphic problem

This might have something to do with DVMT or Digital Video Memory Technology. Basically, the amount of video memory is dependent on the amount of memory installed. I'm not very familiar with acer system BIOS but try to look for VIDEO under system BIOS and try to select any fixed video memory if possible. you can also try to disable DVMT.
