Replace Panel in Xerox 8550 Color Printer - Close Exit Cover

Red light won't go out keeps saying close exit cover. Exit cover
is closed. Turn printer on and off, unplug printer but keeps saying the same thing. Before we replaced the panel light we had to replaced the maintenance kit. Got a red light after we put the maintenance kit in once we took it out a couple of times and restarted the machine the red light went out then after it booted up the red light came up saying close the exit door.

Dont' know what else to do to get it printing again?

Open that cover and look in the frame of the machine for an opening. Then look on the upper cover. There is an interlock switch on the machine. The plastic tab on the upper cover often times breaks off and will not actuate the switch, giving you that message.
You can fix it by gluing a paper clip onto the cover. Or call 1-800-835-6100 and order a new cover.

The screen states "close cover E" It is closed but the screen keeps saying " close cover E" ?

The Exit 2 interlock switch is either broken or off it's base or defective. If you open up the top door on left side of print, there is a push button switch that mounts on the back side. If you're standing on the left side of printer it's located on the top left. Make sure it's mounted properly and try to push the button with your finger and see if error goes away, if not replace switch, part number 110E11580.

Why does the printer keeps saying to close horizontal transport cover. I did that and it still says it. Please help

If there is some kind of interlock switch operated by closing the cover, the switch may be defective or misadjusted so it can't sense the cover position.

TURNS ON BUT KEEPS SAYING CLOSE OFFSET COVER

There is an exit sensor with a black actuator attached. I suspect the actuator has fallen off. If you can't clear that you should be able to remove the offset catch tray assembly and just let the paper feed into the center output tray.

HAVE REPLACED BOTH THE PCU & THE TONER IN MY LEXMARK E250DN PRINTER BUT STILL KEEP GETTING ERROR MSG TO REPLACE PCU IT HAS REACHED THE END OF IT'S LIFE

you need to reset the counter. the new pcu should have come with instructions to do this. 1. Turn off the printer. 2. Open the front cover. 3. Press and hold the Continue button (Big silver button with Diamond shape symbol) and turn the printer on. 4. Hold the button down until the last light (error light) is on solid, release the button and close the front cover. 5. When the cover is closed, all the top 3 lights should be on solid. 6. Press the cancel button (triangle symbol) 4 times very slowly until you see the toner low light (second light from top) on solid. 7. Press the continue button and wait until you see the light sequence. 8. Press the cancel button and wait until you see the light sequence. 9. Finally power off the printer and power it back on to exit the configuration mode.

Xerox phaser 8400 message

What has most likely happened it the tab that actuates the cover switch has broken off. What you want to do it open that cover and look around the edge where it meets up with the other cover. There will be a hole, I would say about a half inch long and about a quarter inch wide where there will be a switch. Look at the exit cover in that area and you will probably see where a tab was, and is not broken off. You normally can fix it by making a couple of small holes in the cover and epoxying a paper clip in that area as a new switch actuator. You have to break or cut the paper clip to the proper length and so you have 2 ends to pop through the cover and epoxy it to.

Xerox 8550 exit cover close error

There is a small tab that actuates a cover switch that has broken off. Hard to determine. You can look for an opening with that cover open to determine where the hole for the switch is, you will find that the tab that goes through that hole is snapped off, you have to replace the cover.
You can call 1-800-835-6100 and order the cover if you do not have a maintenance agreement.

Flashing red button with a triangle and ! in it . printer won't work

If only the attention light is flashing then follow the guide below -

The Attention (amber)
light is blinking.
Attention error. The top
cover is open.
Close the top cover.
Attention error. The
printer is out of media.
Load media.
Attention error. The
printer has a jam.
1. Clear the jam (see pages 164 through 168).
2. If the location of the jam is not apparent, check
the embedded Web server to find the jam
location.
If the jam was under the imaging drum, toggle
the registration sensor to check its movement
and replace the registration sensor if it does not
move freely.
If the jam was in the fuser area, toggle the fuser
exit sensor to check its movement and replace
the fuser exit sensor if it does not move freely.

Xerox Phaser 8550 won't recognize that the cover is closed!

What has most likely happened is the tab that actuates the front cover has broken off.
When you open the cover, you will see a bar code with some numbers under it. Look toward the top of that cover above that strip. There should be a piece of plastic about an inch long and thinner than a popsicle stick.
They have a tendency to break off.
