The conditioner isn't going through my machine

Clean conditioner compartment as you can see on bottom picture.
Be sure to read the instructions of the manufacturer of conditioner. Some manufacturers supply concentrated softener which should be diluted with water (is too dense and can clog small drain tube in softener compartment). Also make sure you do not fill up over sign MAX., otherwise softener may leak in drum before starting the washing machine.

My machine will not take the conditioner into the wash

in this case, do the following test. Since the machine starts to fill water a little pull out dispenser drawer and make sure water intake to softener compartment. There is possible 2 failures. First, clogged the holes for intake water above softener compartment and water doesn't intake to softener compartment. Second, faulty water dispenser so water intake to the pre-wash or wash compartment.

one of the water valves (dual valve)may be faulty. also check the sython tube in the soap drawer is not blocked its the cover of the conditioner compartment.see if the programme will run on a prog with pre wash suspect not as prewash valve faulty. uses both valves to empty conditioner.

Which compartment does the washing powder and soft rinse go?

The conditioner or rinse aid goes in the smallest of the 3 compartments, it sometimes has a cover in it.
The wash powder goes in the largest of the compartments
Trust this helps.

Zanussi ZWD1470W fabric conditioner compartment won't drain

fabric conditioner is dispensed during rinse cycle, if it does not work then either, try pouring hot water into dispenser, as conditioner tends to get goopie when dry, thus may have clogged up
