Try running a cup of white vinegar through your empty dishwasher. If that doesn't work, get the JetDry dishwasher cleaner and run that through.

There are stains at the expansion joints on sidewalks that appear to be from weed/grass exterminator, not rust from well water.

Weed exterminators are pretty much clear and do not stain concrete or clay brick materials . So I doubt it has anything to do with any weed extermination treatment and I have used many of them.

Once a true stain is embedded in concrete it is extremely difficult to remove because concrete is a porous material. Power washing will not remove real stains no matter how much you clean it. This stain will most likely be coming from below the concrete and is leaching up to the surface when it rains enough. Most likely if you do remove it you will find it comes back.

I would try soaking the affected areas with a very concentrated mix of bleach and water but not if the concrete has been coloured in one of the darker tones used. Any of the very pale colours will be ok.

What is this stain?

IT'S NOT A STAIN, looks like you bleached the color out by accident, lots of things other than bleach will take the color out of fabrics.

I get what look like rust streaks on my white clothing when I wash them in my washer. The stains do not come out even with straight bleach. RIT rust stain remover will get them out, but there's not...

1. Iron or manganese in the water supply. • Avoid using chlorine bleach on rust stains. It will make them darker and more obvious. • When iron is dissolved in the water, use granular detergent plus a non-precipitating water conditioner, such as Calgon or Spring Rain*. Better results may be obtained by dissolving detergent and water conditioner in the wash before adding the clothes. Be certain that all clothes are down into the water before starting washer. • If the iron is suspended in the water (it will settle out), attach a rust filter to the faucet and inlet hoses or to the water line. • If iron or manganese stains are a recurring problem, the customer may need a special filter or chemical feeder installed in the home to remove these minerals from the water supply. To remove: Launder with RoVer* Rust Remover Part No. 057961 using the directions below: • Top loading washers: a. Fill the washer with water (no detergent), selecting a temperature suitable for the fabric (hot or warm). b. Add 1/3 cup RoVer and let it dissolve by agitation. c. Add clothes and allow washer to complete the cycle. d. Follow up with an additional wash with detergent.

Be sure to check the spin basket for rust spots also.

Have had numerous items ruined due to brown stain

My Maytag Front Loader also has periodically caused rust stains on clothes. After investigating it I determined the cause.

The top of the machine is rusting around the opening under the lid where you add the detergent, fabric softener, and bleach. Water apparently splashes up on the bottom of the lid and it rusts. The flakes of rust then flake off and fall into the plastic reservoir and are washed into the machine. The only fix is to replace the top of the machine, or take it off, physically clean off the rust and apply a coating of rust resistant paint to the inside. A quick fix is to remove the plastic cover (4 phillips screws) and clean as much rust off around the edges as you can. Be sure and keep the rust from falling down the hole where the water flows into the machine.

Brown stains in the drum of my whirlpool dryer

Apparently a common problem with 4-5 year old Kenmore and Whirlpool dryers. The paint is rubbed off the back panel by the felt seal attached to the rotating drum. The bare metal gets rusty from the damp clothes. The rust is rubbed off by the felt seal. The entire felt seal will turn brown. The stains are transfered to the clothes. The rust stains can generally be removed by additional cleaning.
I'm going to replace the felt seal on the drum, clean the rust off the back panel and see how long it lasts. Seal w/ adhesive is $30-40.
Some have suggested painting the back panel, but i don't think fresh paint is going to last long. The original paint was probably electrostatically applied and maybe baked on.

Dark brown stains

Try running a cycle on hot with 1/2 cup dishwasher detergent (powdered) in it. Stop it before it pumps it out and restart again, Do this a few times to get a long scrub action. I don't think its oil as a front load machine doesn't have a transmission. If you think this is a rust stain use a rust remover type product instead of dishwasher detergent.
