Question about Samsung Digimax S730 Digital Camera
"Solution 3- Gently smack it against your palm, hitting the edge where your USB
cable plugs into the camera. Thats usually where the guide pins and
lens barrell will be located."
This worked, I repeatedly palmed it while powering up. If only I found this solution a year ago. It now a backup to my s1050

O.K. - The 3 beeps error indicates that the lens is stuck and the camera cannot boot up, therefore shutting down. A common problem among all digital cameras and all brands, the only way to "fix" it is to reseat the guide pins into the guide slots. If your camera is under warranty, see if it is covered. You might get lucky. If not, and repair is too expensive, AND the camera is otherwise useless, you may try:
1- Gently grabbing the lens barrell and slightly pulling on it. AND I MEAN SLIGHTLY. This has worked for me countless times. The lens barrells tend to get stuck when opening and projecting out. So help it a little. Then press your power button and cross your fingers.
2- Simply, AND GENTLY, with even pressure, grab the lens while pressing the power button and see if it reseats itself. Listen for a slight click indicating the pins have been reseated. Then turn the power back off and see if the lens retracts.
3- Gently smack it against your palm, hitting the edge where your USB cable plugs into the camera. Thats usually where the guide pins and lens barrell will be located.
4- Dismantle the camera and try reseating the guide pins. Good luck working with no space and tiny parts. Also good luck just putting it all back together. Much less with a working lens.
5- Beat the **** out of it with a sledgehammer - This step has yet to work for anyone but it does make me feel better about the whole situation.
