The belt hopped off likely due to grass or other things getting in-between the belt and pulley near the blade. You should be able to remove the cover on the top of the mower deck, remove the belt from the pulley under the cover, place the belt back on the pulley near the blade and then on the pulley under the cover. If the belt is shiny on the sides or you see black powder caking the inside of the cover or area's around the pulleys or the belt looks like it has chunks missing from any part of it the belt should be replaced. local hardwares, automotive and DIY centers that carry outdoor power equipment parts can match it up with the one the manual recommends using.

Tip: Keep the blade sharp, I recommend buying a couple blades so that you can always have a sharp spare installed while the other is being sharpened, change the blade as soon as the sharp edge is gone and becomes somewhat rounded on the cutting edge. If the lawn produces a lot of dust or there are lots of bald patches this will dull the blade quickly as will chopping up stick with the mower, if this is the case take steps to improve the lawn and keep the sticks picked up before you mow.
Change the oil before using it in the spring and after each 50 hours of use (more often if its used in a dusty area).
I recommend using a synthetic oil unless the manual specifically states not to.
When mulching mow in counter clockwise circles, when bagging mow in clockwise circles and in either case overlap about 1/4 the width of the mower for a complete smooth cut. after each mowing allow the mower to cool then tilt the mower on its side opposite of the carburetor (where the air filter is) and wash off the stuff stuck to the bottom, you may have to use a putty knife on the real thick or stubborn stuff. This will reduce corrosion over the years and keep the mower running and mowing efficiently not mention it avoids blowing into the air backteria produced as the clippings of past mowing decay (it makes me sneeze).

Self propelled not working

The weakest link in your problem is the belt, and it's path. The belt comes off the engine crankshaft and goes to the self propel shaft at front or back of your mower. I believe your problem is that your belt has broken, or just slipped off of a pulley. Check the drive belt and you should be OK. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

This sounds like a simple belt adjustment. Look in the area where the belt is . Look to see if there is an adjusting screw, or a movable pulley, or just something that will tighten the belt. Lift the mower and look underneath the mower deck. This may be where the adjustment may be. If you can't find the area of adjustment, then you may have to bring in to the repair guy. Either way it's cheaper than a new mower. GOOD LUCK>

How do I remove the blade adapter from a Poulan Pro 22" self propelled mower

The blade adapter is a "slip fit" on the crankshaft and is held on by the blade retaining bolt. However, due to rust, etc. they can become difficult to remove. You may try penetrating oil to help loosen the rust.

We generally use an air tool to remove stubborn adapters but you have to exercise caution so as not to put undo stress on the crankshaft. In some rare instances they have to be "cut off".

Belt jump off the drive pulley

I don't have this kind of mower. But I was faced with the same problem recently. I got my belt back on by taking a large wrench and affixing it to the bolt head holding the pulley which you want to slip the belt on. Hold the belt firmly against the pulley and turn the wrench and the belt in the grove will walk around the pulley until it slips in place.

Hello:

Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine and the Mower Model Numbers, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Engine Model Numbers May be Stamped Into the Blower Housing (metal engine cover) Above the Spark Plug. The Mower Model Numbers are Usually Located Under the Seat on a Sticker on the Body of the Mower.
