It sounds like your sensor, clean it with a dry cloth, then check to make sure you don't have too much paper in at one time thus preventing the stack from engaging the sensor. If still a problem, disconnect all wires including power and re try, it sounds like something is hung up, it is usually dirt. Then it isn't allowing the paper to fall low enough to be picked up by the printer.

I've read that inkjets are best for home photos. But I really want a color laser printer ( fax not necessary)for my home that at least does decent photos for my personal use. Any suggestions?
