Question about Pioneer AVIC-N3 Car DVD Player

1 Answer

Pioneer avic n3 doesn't play audio, but has button sounds

So I got this Pioneer avic-n3 from my buddy for free. I wired it up to my Accord color matching the harness. So i turn it on and I can hear sounds when i press buttons, but when I insert a cd to play it doesn't have any audio. You can also see the timer thing for the song, so it is playing. How can I go about hearing my audio?

Built-in amplifier, as in the wires coming form the dvd player harness, then yes. I have not tried the rca out put for signal yet as I do not have an external amp. I was thinking perhaps the internal amp is blown, but then again I can still hear sounds when I press buttons on the deck and screen.

are you using the built-in amplifier for your speakers?

Have you tried the RCA ouput for a signal??

There is a built-in speaker for those tones inside the unit.
Seems as if your internal amplifier IS blown. It is probably cheaper - and will sound better to install a cheap 2 or 4 channel amplifier anyway.
The head units BOAST 50W per channel... but that is PEAK power. Most actually only produce 10-15W rms.
Replacing an output on the head unit will run you approximately $75 for the first... and $20 each additional. (up to 4)

You can get a great class a/b 2 or 4 channel amplifier for that price with built in crossovers and your sound will be 100x better!

ready. ground the e brake. green wire. also because you have a pioneer(i do to) you will need to have a switch where the driver can reach cause every time you turn off your car (acc) then start again this switch needs to be ungrounded then re grounded let e know how it goes.

There are a few ways to do this. Most of them involve grounding the e-brake wire and uploading special software. www.avic411.com should have multiple posts that give you step by step directions.

Pioneer avic n1 video by pass but now doesnt work when i upgraded w n3 disc

I am pretty sure that pioneer does this so you cant bypass it. The n1, you just have to ground the parking brake wire, the n2 you have to solder the 2 points together under the piece of tape, the n3 you have to move over the switch on the side of the unit. Which all of these void your warranty anyway but I think that is why people eventually downgrade the the old dvds.
