Resetting BIOS is simply removing the jumper which connects 2 pins from a set of 3 pins on the MB, very close to the BIOS chip,(else look it up from the users manual. Next use a working keyboard mouse. If you know how to handle the RAM then do so using an old news paper corner piece, for the carbon/dust and replace securely. Check the connections of the power/SATA/IDE Cables are snug tight. If that too fails, replace the power supply(SMPS)..............sodeep

I'm faced with a black monitor, no boot beep, with an operating fan and green light on. XP OS with an ASUS P5P800S motherboard, Thanks Jose

Remove all components from your mb and bios battery. Place jumper to clear cmos and make short to battery cmos. Leave 1min and after place cpu and one ram in mb. Replace jumper from clear cmos in normal position and verify. If not display, change ram.

The desktop won't reboot. The power light stays yellow. I hear a fan running, but the monitor says no signal.

If your fan runs and the hard drive spins up, then you have a video card problem.
I'd do this: Disconnect everything inside the case but the CPU, memory, and video. Now try to boot. Also observe the fan on the CPU--does it spin?
If this fails, then your video has probably gone bad. Also--does your computer usually give you a "beep" when it starts up? If so, is it giving you a beep now? If not, you're failing the hardware startup test (POST).
So, your problem may be the video card. If your video is part of the motherboard, then you need to replace the motherboard.

Fan running, HDD light solid, no display

I assume there are no post codes (beeps)?

Pull everything including the video card, leave only the RAM and CPU installed.

Try powering it on, You should hear a long beep, then some short ones to tell you the video card wasn't detected.

If you still don't get any post beeps, try resetting the BIOS, and re-seat your RAM.

If it still doesn't post it could be a system board mounting issue, bad system board, bad RAM, bad CPU, or bad Power Supply

have you thought about changing the battery on the motherboard, also checking that the fan on the cpu is seated properly with enough heatsink paste as both these issues will stop the pc from booting

ASUS P4SP-MX motherboard no POST and no beep without ram

Try removing everything attached to it. The only thing should be the cpu and cpu fan. Turn it on. If it is the same, then it is your motherboard. If you do get the beeping, then start installing things one by one starting with the memory.
