Compaq Evo N610c need video driver upgrade

Installed Hoyle Card Games 2009. When it starts to run it gives an error message:
''This game was unable to find a display with proper requirements.''

Hoyle support says to update the video driver but I'm unable to find an update for this laptop and its generic video driver. There was a link given to someone else who was looking for a driver but it just comes up with service unavailable. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks to Ekse and Sphynkter. There was no driver on my system for the Ati Radeon 7500 but I was able to download and install it from Microsoft. I could have an issue with the 64MB Video RAM as dxdiag is reporting there is only 32MB.

The driver did install and is working fine with my laptop. Will try the game again but I'm not holding any hope out. Is is possible to upgrade the video card on a laptop?

What type of display adapter do you have? You can find this by right-clicking on My Computer, selecting Manage, then going into Device Manager, and expanding "Display Adapters". Please tell me what the make and model of your display adapter is (as it's stated in Device Manager.

Nevermind, I just looked up the system requirements for Hoyle 2009. The requirements for the computer video card is a minimum of 64MB of Video RAM, which you may not have in the laptop. If you don't have a 64MB+ video card, it won't work. If you do have a 64MB+ video card, but don't have the correct driver installed, you can get the drivers you need by going to Windows Updates and letting Microsoft install it for you.

It's technicall possible sometimes if the board manufacturer offers multiple video card choices, but they're integrated on the motherboard, so you'd have to replace most of your laptop in order to do it... at which point you're better off getting a new laptop. So, the answer is "yes, it is often possible to upgrade the video card in a laptop". The real-life answer is "No, it's not possible to upgrade the video card in a laptop because it's not practical".

Upgrading the windows version and adding ram and better video card may be a good solution. It couldn' hurt at least.
Try it and see if you can play you games.
Games are the most resourse hungry application that you can put your computer through. The ram size and video card memory size are critical for acceptable preformance.
Thank you and good luck,
James.

Compaq evo n610c 1gb ram is support for windows 7

Not at all!!
I've installed Windows7 in my n610c (with !gb ram) and my laptop is perfectly working.
Windows 7 is not the 'awful' Vista!!!
The most important things are W7 drivers for this laptop. In order to obtain these drivers, you've to download and install 7zip, then you've to expand in folders the exe files of audio ,video, etc.  drivers of windows xp, and let the system find the suitable drivers..
InstallingXP drivers (exe files) in W7  is not possible!

Also ram may be increased over 1Gb, but you've to install the O.S.
after having upgraded your ram, otherwise graphic card will be not working, even reinstallig its driver!!!
I've just made these operations in two Compaq evo n610c, successfully.
I'd  a problem only for Infrared port, but I've fixed it 'asking' system to find the driver into an external usb HDD full of drivers of various PCs. After a few time , also Infrared port driver was OK.
I've made a backup od windows7 drivers (you may use double driver(free) or Windriver Ghost (not free), in order to backup w7 drivers.
Regards
D.

Laptop dispalys to monitor but laptop panel cannot be activate

Hi,

Thanks for all the details..

The issue seems to be with the video card drivers here...

Go to www.hp.com/suport and download the latest video card and the chipset drivers

before you download ...uninstall the nvidia chipset or any display software from program and features.

after you have installed the software.. go to the nvidia control panel > setup multiple monitors. and browse throughout the options >
It should be dual display and not extended display.

Also try with a new user profile...

Hope this helps..

Anup

HDD Upgrading

mshahzad_nas,

Of cause you can upgrade the hdd to 160GB, the system will detect it, don't worry.

Meanwhile, make sure you have the drivers ready for all the hardware, as new new hdd need to be install with a new windows, and u will need the driver for all the hardware to function properly, like wifi and video.

In case you lost your driver disc, here's the link for you to download

Blue Screen of death

According to this link, the memory of Compaq Evo N610c can be upgradable to 1024 mb.

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11382_div/11382_div.HTML

Memory Upgrade for Compaq Evo N610C, the Compaq Evo N610C takes the PC2100 DDR SDRAM SODIMMs Memory Type, and comes installed with of Memory. You can upgrade your Compaq Evo N610C to up to a maximum of 1.0 GB Memory, the system has 2 sockets to install Memory, already with standard Memory installed. For best system performance use the maximum amount of allowed Memory per slot for your system. (Souce: http://www.memorystock.com/memory/CompaqEvoN610C.html)

So you have to install 512mb memory module on each slot to make up 1024mb of memory.

Did you install 512mb memory module on each slot or did you just install 1GB memory module in one slot?

Try to go back to 256mb RAM and see if you will have the same blue screen error. If you did not receive any blue screen, try to add memory into it or just insert 512mb first and then oserve again if you will have the blue screen error.
