Im assuming that you are using windows XP. You can check the RAM that you have by right clicking the "My Computer" icon or you computer icon then select properties. you will see the processor speed and type in there. also you will see the amount that you have for your ram. The maximum amount that your computer can handle is up to 1gigabyte. I hope this helps. Have a wonderful day.

Remove the battery and all power. Press the power on button a few times then place the charger back in and power on. They sometimes hang in the RAM and killing the power totally will allow it to reset.
Did you try your hdd in the other laptop because if you did it might have screwed up your OS.

# of RAM slots

There are two models for this type of desktop, the first having only two DIMM slots, but that takes PC2700 Ram, you have stated that yours takes PC3200 which would make it the second model in which case your model has (4) DIMM slots, each slot is capable of holding a 1 GB stick of ram for a total of 4 GB. Your RAM specification is DDR PC-3200

What brand is it? You should be able to find drivers at the manufacturers site. If it's a 'white box' unbranded laptop you'll need to know what brand the motherboard is and go from there.
