Computer crashes and restarts seconds after video begins

Hi, I just got a Logitech QuickCam Connect (E 2500 webcam but I'm having problems. When installing, it finishes installing the software but when it goes on to the adjusting the camera part just before the installation is finished, I get about 3 seconds of picture through the webcam and then my computer restarts without warning reporting "Windows has recovered from a serious error." Then, it seems as though the program is installed, but when I go into Skype or anything that has video I get about 3 more seconds of video through the webcam and then the comp crashes and restarts again. I'm currently using XP with better than the webcams minimum requirements. I though the problem might have been something to do with the webcams onboard microphone so I disabled it to see but it made no difference. I've also reinstalled the software 3 times to no avail. Can anyone help?

Be sure that the software you install is the one that your xp supports ..I mean to be on 32 or 64...this kinda problems are usually not related with your software from the camera ..but with problems on your operating system but you just not been aware of them cause u have not use camera until now ....I suspect a bug or something ...

See section A. Skype in the info below to setup the Audio & Video.
Also send this to your family and friends so they have their computer setup properly.
Web Camera's have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/ )
set it up as follows:
Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
Then click on the Video Settings.
The camera, if Installed Properly, it will come up and show a video picture.
Then, on the bottom of the page click save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and hear you.

B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger (http://www.soft32.com/download_30.HTML )
set it up as follows:
Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
Next "Calling and Devices" on the right, set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card or headphones/mike.
Next go to the Test Audio section below where you just setup the microphone & speaker and (written in blue) click on "Open the call setup assistant"
and the "Yahoo Call Setup Assistant" window will open to the left and follow the the instructions. Click on FINISH and the audio will be setup.
Next go to "Webcam" and click in the circle "Allways allow the following people to view my webcam.
Next Click on "Super Webcam" snd in the circle click "Start Super Webcam mode automatically".
Then click OK and it should work.

C. Windows Live Messenger:

After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on " "Show Menus." And then click on "Show the Menu Bar".
Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on " "Action."
Go to "TOOLS" and click "Audio and Video Setting" and follow the instructions.
NOTE: Your audio and video should work. Enjoy.
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.

D. AIM (AOL) Messenger:
http://dashboard.aim.com/aim
On the VIM sign-in window, click on Edit.
Then click on Settings Enhanced IM.
Next click on Enhanced IM.
Then click on Audio Video.
The Audio and Video portion has drop downs so you can select the proper audio card and video camera installed in you computer.
The Audi Video drop downs are
Microphone
Speaker
Camera
The audio and camera should function now.
Additional information to use with VIM settings.
Adjust Your Audio and Video Settings:
In order to adjust your audio and video settings, please follow the steps given below:
1. Click the Audio and Video Settings button directly below the My Buddy or My Camera window. If you are currently
Participating in an AOL Live Video IM session, a message will display: You must disconnect the current AOL Live Video IM
conversation before running setup. Would you like to disconnect now? Click the Yes button.
2. The Audio and Video Tuning Wizard will appear to help you verify that your camera, speakers and microphone are working
Properly. Follow the on-screen prompts.
Notes:
The first time you use AOL Live Video IM, a message will display: Would you like to first check your audio and video settings? Click the Yes button.
The Audio and Video Tuning Wizard will appear to help you verify that your camera, speakers and microphone are working properly.
Follow the on-screen prompts.
images in AOL Live Video IM may appear reversed, or as a mirror image (text may appear backwards) when you look at your own camera feed or at the
Picture-in-picture (PIP) display.
After making the settings your ready for a chat and video talk with your Family and Friends. Hope this helps. Bud

next step would be a re-install

Visit the Logitech website and browse the photo gallery for your model and click on the photo to navigate to the support page.

In addition to the Logitech installer you will need to download Microsoft DirectX 9 or later to support your webcam

Procedure
Close all programs while uninstalling - downloading and uploading software
Disconnect your webcam
Uninstall the current webcam software on your computer
Restart computer
Download the Installation package from Logitech
Run the installer and choose your options - You may not want Logitech Chat but the Desktop icon for the webcam toolbar is a must.
Connect your webcam when prompted.

I have a Logitech quickcam communicate deluxe and when I try to use it with a web based chat program on firefox, it crashes. Any help is appreciated.


uninstall logitech quickcam when it done restart your computer/ install logitech quickcam again if not working maybe your camera have a problem.

My webcam gives out a dark almost negative picture


Launch the logitech toolbar - make sure no video effects are selected (2 theatre masks on toolbar)
Open 'settings (2 cogs on toolbar) try and tune the picture.

If unsuccesful
Disconnect webcam
Uninstall software
Restart computer
Go to Logitech site and identify your webcam
Download software - connect webcam when prompted

I got this of Skype.
We are sorry to hear that you are having problems with Skype video.
Thank you for contacting Skype customer support about your video settings.
If you are using a Logitech webcam, please follow the steps below:
NB! To begin with please close Skype and make sure that you have unplugged the webcamera before installing the installation software that came with it.
1) Go to the control panel and open Add/Remove programs. Then from there uninstall any Logitech webcam software and Logitech webcam drivers from the list shown.
2) Download the latest drivers for your webcam from

3) Open the webcam installer package by double clicking it.
Now select: Custom installation (advanced) and click next. You are now given a choice whether you would like to install the software and drivers or just the drivers. Please select the second option (Logitech QuickCam drivers) then uncheck 'Enable VoIP Device Management' and click 'Next'. Accept the agreements and on the next page select 'I do not want to activate this Service' (Logitech destkop Messenger). Click 'Next' and the Logitech drivers should be installed. Restart your system and plug in your webcam. Your webcam should now be correctly installed.

I have the sama problem, i have buy today this cam, and the customer service have say to me is ok with mac, u should download the driver in internet, but therearent on line.. when we can find??
