RCA 27" TV Guide Plus

We unplugged our 27" RCA TV for a short time last evening and now the Guide Plus feature won't work. We went through the set up, turned the TV off overnight and everything it said to do on the screen - still nothing. Can you help?

I have a 27" RCA with the guide plus. Just before ThanksGiving the onscreen guide worked perfectly, After Thanksgiving it does not work at all. I have tried unpluging the set, going through the setup and leaving it off over night. I have tried entering 99999 for the zip and leaving it off over night. I have tried reseting the set unpluging it and still no joy. I believe the cable company has blocked signal (Charter Comm). I have called them and they say they have no information about it. Nobody at Charter knows anything about the Guide plus,,, which is very hard to believe. I also have a DVR which has the Guide plus and the same thing happened to it. I could belive one device failing..... but not two..... So either cable company the broadcaster that host the signal is at fault here.

I have a RCA and have gone thru all the set up instruction in the manual and cannot get the Guide Plus to show the programs. It worked fine until I had a power outage and now all it will show is no program information available. I called comcast and they said they were still sending the same cable information. Would a different VCR cause the problem with the Guide Plus?

If you have the set off, and the cable plugged into the back of the set for a day or so, the guide plus should come back. It will sometimes take up to 48 hours. If it does not, there is a problem with the set and will require servicing. Good Luck

Menu keeps popping up

If you have the guide plus feature go into the setup for it and when it asks if you have a cable box, indicate no, when it asks if you have a Vcr also indicate no. Last if it asks for the zip code enter all 9, This should rule the Guide feature out of service and you will know if it is your problem or not---it created a lot of problems in sets that had it, especially RCA or GE sets.

RCA Home Theater Premiere 36" TV comes on automatically

Only two possible reasons I can think of for this--

ONE: you have looked in the customer menu and there is no item listed as Timer?

TWO: Does THIS SET HAVE THE GUIDE PLUS LOGO ON THE FRONT OF THE SET? IF IT HAS THE GUIDE PLUS--YOU WILL FIND IT IN THE MENU ALSO---

LET me know if it has the guide plus feature and I can tell you how to end the problem--most of these the set will come on at the same odd time and usually with volume up high.

Here is a whole forum discussing this.

It sounds like you need to reset your local zip code to 99999 then unplug the TV for at least 12 hours. Then plug it back in, reset to your real local zip code and go through the guide setup menus.

Help me remove the Guide Plus Grid on my RCA television

Simply enter 00000 for the zip code and complete the set up process; if you're in Canada, select the USA as your country and use the zip. However, you MUST complete the set up, including allowing the TV to search for appropriate code. In the long scheme of things, location and codes don't really matter because you won't see the GUIDE again.

Problem fixed. I unplugged the TV for 20+ seconds, then before plugging it back in, I shorted ac plug prongs together with a metal key to ensure complete discharge. Plugged TV back in and used procedure to reset password WITH ONE CHANGE TO THE PROCEDURE.

With TV turned OFF press and hold <CLEAR> button on the remote while pressing <VOLUME DOWN> button on the TV, hold until TV turns on. When the menu appears DO NOT RESET THE PARENTAL CONTROL CODE as the user guide instructs. When my menu appeared it was in the SETUP screen on the LANGUAGE setting. It was set to SPANISH, using the remote I navigated to ENGLISH. Then using the remote I navigated up to GO BACK. Then I navigated to EXIT and hit <OK> button on the remote. All was back to normal.

Either the hardware has failed or your cable system or broadcasters do not provide this information. Frankly, with this chassis you should be glad it works at all.

Television won't turn on

The beeping sound is the power supply trying to start up. That means there is a short somewhere inside the set. On these TV sets most of the time this trouble is in the horizontal sweep circuit. Sorry but the only way to reset a TV set like this is to unplug it for several hours. But in this case I doubt very much it will work. If you have no solid state repair experience then please call in a certified tech to assist you in this repair. Let me know how you made out. Good Luck

Loud hum when attempting to turn on my RCA F27628 27"TV

could be that the main b+ filter Capacitor went bad and blew up. Also could have been the horizontal output transistor shorted and the flyback poped. In eather case it would be recommended that you take this set into a repair shop unless your familar with HV circuits in tv sets. Good Luck
