I bought a sportster 883r 2007 model new on october 2007.
now it has only 3700km on the odometer,the first month,at an after noon she couldnt start.the lights were on, but no start.i only started it with cables and my car.(jump start).i send it to the dealer and they told me nothing was wrong.they charged the battery and for few months she was ok.but one day,the same problem.she stood in my garage then.12000 euro brand new bike.a week ago i bought a new h-d battery.150euro.everything ok.my last ride was this .....sunday..... .Yesterday (WEDNESDAY) ONLY 48HOURS AFTER THE LAST RIDE,NO STARTING AGAIN.I JUMP STARTED IT WITH MY CAR.AND MY CAR WAS READY TO TURN OFF UNTIL THE BIKE STARTED AGAIN.i hope you can tell me what to do. im running out of ......battery...... money.thanks
Either you have a dead short in your wireing or your battery is not charging fully. Use a volt meter your battery will have 12 volts start the bike and it should read 13 plus then take it up to 2000 rpm above idle anyway it should read 14 plus. If you dont have these numbers then you have a stator or regulator problem or both. You may be geting a slight charge when running but not enough to keep the battery peaked out.
