Re: Power problem

Hi s_fowler,

Your heater fuse may be blown.  You have to look on the bottom and remove screws to access. To chack a fuse you use a Volt ohm meter, and set it to measure ohms or resistance. The fuse will be install in a wire leading to the heater.  It may have shrink tubing around it. You will have to pierce the shrink tubing to get your leads to touch the wire on both sides of the fuse.  If your meter reads -1 or OL, the fuse is blown.  If your meter reads less than 1 but more than 0 your fuse is good.  If your fuse is good, you will need to test the heater.  The heater is located under the canister plate.  Only 2 wires exist going to the heater.  Disconnect the heater wires to open the circuit.  Using your Volt ohm meter, Measure the heaters resisitance. This is done by putting a lead on each of the wires leading into the heater assembly.  You should measure between 2 and 20 ohms.  If your meter reads -1, or OL, then theater is burned out. Depending on what you find, the place to get parts is  I believe they have the part your need.

Coffee pot won`t turn on.It`s getting power because the clock is running and the 1 to 4 button lights, but when I toggle it to on the red light does not come on.

It is possible the heating element is burnt out, or the safety fuse has been fried and is opened not allowing power to the element.

Green power light only on trevi exclusive

When power is turned on, the coffee selection button should blink during warming up. If it is not blinking then the following i possible:
1- The electronic sensor is bad. It is clamp mounted on the boiler to sense temperature and send message to control board to turn the heating off when it is ready to make espresso. The blinking light will be fixed to display this.
2- The heating element on the boiler is bad and not heating. The electronic sensor cannot relay any temperature as it is.not sensing the heating.
3- The electronic control board is bad and not sensing the temperature.
The machine should be opened up to test the sensor or the neating elements, and replace what is bad..

I did something wrong: I left my machine running for about 20 minutes without any water. The machine was turned on and the switch was turned towards the "coffee" sign. The red/orange lights are still...

Hello 'lord tatien', from my research I suggest you call 1-866-273-8455 8a to 5p Pacific time. I couldn't find technical info on line. You may try this, unplug unit overnight. It should have an internal over/temp power breaker on the heating element witch would reset after cooling off.

No water/coffee comes through? the temprature indicators doesnt light up?

The POWER LIGHT for the 889 is RED and located on the LEFT of the center cowling

The BOILER LIGHT for the 889 is YELLOW and located on the RIGHT of the center cowling

If you turn on the power to the unit (the INNER SWITCH on the RIGHT SIDE) the RED light should turn on, showing that the machine is powered. At that point the YELLOW light should also turn on for about 10 seconds, at which point it will turn OFF with an audible CLICK.

If the RED light does not turn on then you have a very dead machine.

If the RED light does turn on but the YELLOW light does not then you have a half dead machine.

Opening up and repairing the 889 is not for amateurs. High voltage, heat and pressure inside.

If you decide to bin the machine I would appreciate getting the drip tray from you as I have lost mine.

Red boiler light will not go on. The boiler does heat up.

Open the steam valve when you turn the machine on that will vent out the boiler, keep it open until it starts to hiss slightly and produce small steam bubbles, then close and machine should heat to temp. If that solves your problem then the vent valve needs to be replaced, until then you can turn using the steam valve open trick.

SL 90 Machine not heating

Hi There are 3 things that could be the problem. 1. The power board on the left rear inside. 2. Heating element is burnt out. Replace the top part of the boiler and order a brew head gasket and replace it at the same time while you have the machine apart. 3. and less likely is the temperature sensor. 2 red wires goes from the board to the top of the boiler.

No hot water

Yes there is a small red breaker switch on the left side of the boiler tank. Unplug the unit first then remove the left side cover and just push down on the red breaker switch to reset it.

Power light on, no warning light, doesn't heat up at all

Your resettable thermostat turned off the high power heater circuit and the red warning light. The heater got too hot when the boiler became empty of water. This is to keep the heater from burning out if the boiler becomes empty. To reset the thermostat, turn the micro casa a leva over. There is a yellow plug near the center of the bottom which is easy to pry out. Stick a screwdriver, pencil, toothpick, chopstick or whatever else is lying around into the hole and gently reset the thermostat button. You will hear a click when it resets. You are then ready to go.
