Make sure you have it in a true Dolby Digital or DTS mode. My guess is that it is switched wrong and not damaged. Please consult your owner's manual. For assistance, or should you have further questions, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. You may contact me directly through the website. Thank you.

SOURCE: no sound though home theater when watching tv

There is an orange button on the remote, half way down in the middle. I belive it has orange lettering and says something like "TV-?" press that, and the sound should start to come through your speaker system. You can then use the original remote that came with your TV and turn the sound off on the TV to use just the theatre system. I noticed that if you use the TV speakers in conjunction with the theatre system, that it echo's.

Connect your sound from the cable box out to the JVC theater audio in jacks. This will give you sound through the speakers.

Do you think the powered subwoofer itself might have a power problem? Check its cord.

Ihave a sava-500 home theater speaker system i dont have the cord to connect the 2 tower speakers will this affect the sound from the main speaker using the av input

With not all the speakers hooked up, it will definitly effect the sound. The unit is designed to channel different sounds to certain speakers. That's what makes you feel like "you are there" If you have lost the cords to the tower speakers, you can buy replacements. Go to where you bought the unit, a Radio Shack, or other store that sells home theater systems. Enjoy your system like it was designed .

Why can't we get the sound to work by hooking the DVD player directly to the tv?

The JVC system is designed to output audio only via the speaker terminals at the rear of the system. There is NO provision to send audio directly to the TV from the system.

Page 14 of the manual (link provided below - free to download) details the connections available to a TV. These connections are limited to three types of connections: 1) "Video" for standard TVs which is "good" 2) "S-Video" for TVs that have an S-Video input jack which is "better" (both #1 and #2 are considered "composite" types).

The third type is called "Component" which is used for TV's that are capable of "progressive scan" video input which is "best" for the system. Notice that the jacks on the DVD player are labeled "Y", "Pb" and "Pr", not "Video", "Left" and "Right". This type video signal requires the use of three cables - they do not send audio as you may be used to see on all but the newer TVs. TVs capable of displaying "progressive scan" video have a better looking picture when using these jacks. Incorrectly connecting the video from the DVD to the TV audio inputs (Left & Right) will likely result in noise or hiss from the TV speaker.

To recap - audio can only be played through the JVC system's speakers. Use the highest quality video jacks that BOTH your TV and the DVD player supports.

I hope this was Very Helpful and enjoy your DVD and TV!

Hello, I have all working speakers for the JVC TH-M505 home theater system, but the control center/receiver gave out. Do you know if I can use them with the JVC TH-M606 HomeTheater Control Center? Thanks...

If the JVC m606 requires a stipped wire to connect them then they should be fine just make sure you connect the right speaker to the proper output if your speakers have a specified connector on the end then you would have to cut that off and strip the wire. if your m606 requires a specified connector for the speakers then you would have to change the connectors out for the proper ones.

JVC TH-M606

You need to take apart tthe sub woofer and check the connection to bass speaker for continuity. It sounds like an internal broken connection to speaker on sub woofer unit.
