can you tell me what to do? so that i won't mess things up...thanks

i opened the case and checked the wires from the front panel onto the motherboard and found out that the front jack ( which is the usb that is working ) is the only one that is hooked up to the motherboard but the rest are not......and i can't find any unplugged wires or something inside...i believe i have to purchase a cable so that i can also connect the other jacks(front) onto the motherboard.....thanks for all the help !

Some motherboards have a small jumper that you set to use the "front audio" connectors _instead_ of the "back" audio connectors.

What specific motherboard do you have?

If only one of the many USB ports (on the front) are working, then check the wires from the front-panel onto the motherboard.

Have you tried looking up the manual for that board on the Asus site? They usually have one. It's difficult to help without one, but we can go over it if you want (if you can't find the manual).

One thing I should ask--have these ports worked in the past? If they have and you haven't messed with the wires, then you have a motherboard problem.

The front jacks are connected to the motherboard. If you installed this motherboad, they will need to be hooked up according to the manual that came with it.
    Do you have a manual?
    Did you build this system?
Can you see loose wires coming out of the front panel?
Did you hook everything up--if so, they might be incorrectly plugged in.

OK--usually what you will find from the front is 3 connectors.
One will be a solid block that has one blank hole which is the key. That will plug into the corresponding pins on the motherboard--usually toward the back of the case.
There will be another other wire that terminates in two plastic connectors. These are the USB connectors. Sometimes the connectors are in two parts. One is a 3-hole and one is a 1-hole. Usually you will find two sets as they sort of go together.
The pin configuration on the motherboard looks like this ::::.
The single pin on the end is not used. The other ones are connected with the plastic connector on the first three starting at the left, with the end marked VCC to the left. The fourth pin is the ground which is usually the separate connector.
The second USB connectors are plugged in right next to the first--so each block of pins controls 2 USB ports.
Hope this helps.

Hi there,

Drivers Link for your motherboard.

1. Check where you plug your 3.5mm headphone jack.
2. It should be plugged in the green Line Out connector.
3. Check the Speaker icon on the status bar if muted.
4. Play an audio or video file, wait for a dialog box informing you if sound drivers are not installed.
5. If drivers not installed click the link above, select OS and download.
6. Install the downloaded driver and reboot.
7. Use your headphone in another device for functionality testing. It might be defective.
