Most keyboards have @ uppercase 2. Hold shift key down then press 2 key.

With my IBM Thinkpad, I had to hold Shift+ScrLk to turn off Number Lock.

Sounds like the keyboard might be bad. Run your fingers thru the keys in a sweepting motion and see if that stops the keyboard from continously typing keys on the screen. If that doesn't do it then its time for a replacement keyboard.

Hi,

You might have a hardware issue with your laptop keyboard. You have at least 2 options:

1) connect a "normal" USB keyboard to your laptop and use it, instead

2) run the On-Screen Keyboard (osk.exe) and access the characters/keys you want from there

All keyboard has a standard layout of keys. If you want to have an @ sign. Press and hold the SHIFT then press 2 just on top of letter W.

The keyboard is set up wrongly or the laptop isn't one set up for your country.
If you get " when typing @ try typing SHIFT and 2 for the @ symbol.
You can change keyboard settings in Control Panel.

My keyboard letter types wrongly to type @ I have to press shift and 2

UK keyboards use a different key for @.
If you wish to change the keyboard layout, you can do this by right clicking on your taskbar and select "language bar". When this is done, right click on the keyboard symbol and select "settings". Change the default language (to UK) and your keyboard will type correctly.

Some letters can't be typed

You need to replace the whole keyboard since the 4 letters is not working at all. You cannot change only 4 letter keys from your laptop.

Note: If machine is under warranty no need to pay for the repairs.

you should be useing "shift+3" cap lock is affect eh characters, not the special charaters and numbers.

Just push the NUMSLOCK button to deactivate it. The light indicator should be off. and there u go
