I want the ability to hook up another set of speakers to the Sony CMT-HX7BT bookshelf system but Sony has put proprietary speaker connections on the unit. When I called Sony they told me they couldnt send me just the 50 cent plastic connectors and that I would have to buy a new set of speakers just to get a set of the connectors.
1. Is there anywhere I can buy a set of these connectors or
2. Is there a different type of connector that will work or
3. Is there an easy way to change out the proprietary connection to spring type connector so I am able to switch out speakers?
Don't do it. The all-in-one box systems are not designed for modifications, hence the proprietary and prohibitive connectors. No more, no less than the supplied speakers. The amps are actually way more modest in power than the advertising hype would have you believe. If you do figure out a way to run more speakers in parallel you do so at the risk of damaging something.
