I AM GETTING A TOUCH FOCUS ERROR. WHEN THE TELEVISION SCANS THE COLOR BLUE IT CANNOT GET THE LOWER LINE TO STRAIGHTEN AND THEN THE TOUCH FOCUS ERROR APPEARS. IF I TRY TO ADJUST THE COLORS MANUALLY THE COLOR BLUE WILL NOT GET CLOSE ENOUGH TO THE +. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Alot of rear projection t.v.'s have a convergence option in the menu on the t.v. There you can set the try to set the colors back how their supposed to. Mine has a cross in the middle of the screen and you just have to try to get all 3 colors to line up. Unfortunately, the actual lens inside mine has to be aligned so it doesnt work. Just something to try though, hope it helps.
The convergence ICs and the six 1.8 ohm 1watt resistors need to be replaced. You can get the convergence repair kit for your model at www.tvrepairworld.com which has the Two Convergence ICs and the six resistors plus the CD with instructions on how to do the repair.
It sounds like you lost a convergence amplifier. There is also the possibility that a resistor on the main circuit board that goes to the horizontal control circuit for the blue CRT/deflection yoke may have a cold solder joint. These circuits generate a considerable amount of heat and can weaken solder joints over time. Try bumping the side of the television and see if the blue line changes or if the blue color returns. If so, then it may very well be a cold solder joint that needs to be touched up. This is one of the first things that an electronic tech tests for - sounds crazy but I've fixed literally thousands of televisions this way. Good luck.
You have a bad convergence output IC in the blue vertical circuit. On the bottom side of the chassis you will see a " V " printed by the heat sink. You will need to unsolder the heat sink and the 20 pins on the IC to remove it. Replace with STK 392-180 (sanyo) if possible or STK 392-150. Looking from the rear the heat sinks are big aluminum finned rectangles. There are 2 heat sinks one marked H and one Marked V. Even though you have a horizontal line your problem is in the vertical IC. Be sure to use a liberal dose of heat sink compound.
