The coffee tastes like plastic

By Thomas1819 on May 14, 2009

Purchased new Keurig B70 Platinum Single Cup Brewer and the coffee has a very strong taste of plastic. I have run baking soda and also vinegar through the machine and it still tastes the same. I had to replace my first B30 due to a plastic taste in the coffee. After some testing, I concluded that the water, not the coffee was the problem. I tried different types of filtered water with no change, so I exchanged the B30 for another. Same problem. After calling the company several times, I opted to upgrade to the B40 in the believe that it was a problem with the B30.  But no, same problem.  The confusing thing about the whole matter is that during all my experimenting with both types I would get a good cup of coffee some of the time.

- Yes, tried several types including my own. Its definitely not the coffee. I did several cycles with water only, most resulting with the bad taste. My suspicion is in the way the water is heated.

did you change the coffee during your tests or just the water?? many times the coffee beans will pick up the taste from the container they are stored in.
If you try a different type not sold in plastic - let us know the results.
Puzzling, indeed.

-   Brand new B70 Keurig -- still produces coffee/tea/water with a rubbery taste. Primed machine as instructed and again using an additional gallon of water. Coffee is fine right after priming/cleansing out the resourvor but next morning -- coffee/tea/water is back to the rubbery smell. Any resolutions? Will this eventually go away?-   DiCaMaBe
