Question about LG LS-K2430HL Heat Cool Mini Split Air Conditioner

1 Answer

How can we caculate the energy needed by an air conditioner?

Is it possible that a 3.4 HP air conditioner needs only 1.170 KW,when the caculation gives : 3.4 x 0.747 = 2.54 KW ?
Is it possible that an air conditioner of 35000 BTU needs only 1.170 KW when others need twice?
thank you
rafi

It depends on the (EER) Energy Efficiency Ratio, which is capacity divided by watts.
Example 35000 btus / 2500 watts = 14 EER
If you know the capacity, btus and EER you can calculate the watts, capacity / EER
Example 35000 btus / 14 EER = 2500 watts.

EER is determine by testing the air conditioner at Department of Energy Guidelines, which are
80° drybulb 67° wetbulb indoor and 95° and 82° drybulb outdoor.

I need to find out what tonage i need for a 1560 squarefoot home with a intertherm heat pump

go to your local HVAC dealer NOT HOME DEPOT, They will size it for you ,You need to give them the ceiling ht. also 8' or 15' does make a difference. My guess with a 8'ceiling would be 2.5 ton. let me know how close i am to the size.
