How about a free replacement heater?

There has been a recall since 2002 on some Honeywell portable baseboard heaters. Check this link, or call Honeywell ASAP. The ON/OFF switch failed (with a burning plastic odor) on my HZ-514.

"Consumers should stop using these heaters immediately, unplug them, and contact HCP at (800) 290-8495 between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. ET Monday through Sunday or log on to the company's website at to determine whether their heater is part of the recall."

I hope this is a solution for you, and you are safely warm again in the near future. off-switch-gwybjxudtwjfkyidrgix5fxs-5-0.jpg CPSC Honeywell Consumer Products Announce Recall of Moveable Baseboard...

This heater sits for a year without use and now I can not turn it on. Does it have multi-button reset to turn it on again?

These types of plug in portable 1500 watt or less heaters use fusible links, limits, safetys etc some of which dont auto reset, many times failing due to one of these essentially non servicable components,I have several times taken these various defective heaters apart, rarely unless an older better built unit, have I seen fan motors fail, nor heat strips, 90% are some safetys/limit, the rest are the switch. unles you can bang or tap it to come on its through. I myself hack the heaters bypassing the failed part, often running them direct , no limit, fusible link or even switch, only to use them in situations where I wont sleep or leave the area, as there is zero safetys now! i do not recommend this to anyone except a technician, i have several motors and coils hanging by the cords running sans their plastic housings a naked heater, they work for years this way so clearly the limits/safetys are the weak pots on these units, by design I suspect.

Hi, received the HZ 7200 Honeywell Heater for Christmas, I love it. THe only point of contension is that all the portable heaters I've had in the past have some sort of filter on the air intake grill. But...

I called the 800 number and spoke to a rep. She said that it doesn't come with a filter all I have to do is used canned "AIR" to blow it out, I'm not overly pleased with the answer, but thats what Il've been instructed to do!

Portable honeywell wont turn on

the thermostat is a variable rotation type. turning it in one direction varies a gap on a set of contacts mounted on the inside of the front panel. take the heater apart by taking out the four screws in back. the front panel should come off and you'll see the thermostat contacts. rotate the knob and see what the contacts do. if they make up, your element might be shot.

Heater kicks out

Honeywell heaters like HZ3650 have a screen on the air inlet at the back side of the heater. This screen can be partially blocked off by an accumulation of lint, etc. The lint blocks some of the air flow which may cause heat increase within the heater to the point that the safety shutoff thermostat shuts off the power. Operation is returned after a cool down period only to repeat the shut down cycle after a short period of operation. If this is the cause of the problem the screen must be cleaned.

Need users manual for a Kaz oil heater

I dug up my user's manual just the another night to address a problem I had. If you contact me and still need a copy of it I will scan it and email it to you. It is a good reference on how to run the heater but doesn't say much about troubleshooting problems. To learn about that you have to email Honeywell, which I did, and haven't received a response yet.
