Question about Sony BRAVIA KDL-40S2010 40 in. LCD Television
When the Bravia is switched on with the remote the TV & green led comes on for a few seconds and goes off. The standby led blinks 4 times repeatedly with an interval. Can not turn tv on.
4 blinks on a Sony Bravia indicates a backlight/inverter (aka ballast) problem. These ballasts are regrettably only available with an entire LCD panel. :( You may perchance be able to find a parts outfitter online that scraps out TVs and have a used ballast.
Typical backlight problem on an LCD shows up as the screen lighting up for a second or two and going back off. The 4 blinks just confirms your problem.

Five blinks - AKB
circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks
for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function.
Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761
