Card error displayed

When I insert card, 'card setup' is displayed.  Pressing 'OK' displays 'card error'.  Cleaned two cards, but problem persists. Never had this problem before.  What gives?  Thanks.  Joe

I had the same problem. It sounded like a contact issue to me, because it was happening with several cards. I cleaned the card with a tissue, blew in the slot several times. It didn't work. I was ready to think the card was no good. Then I decided to take the edge of a kleenex and slide it down in the slot and move it around a little. I put the card in, and it worked like a charm. Hope this helps others with the same problem.

OK, your not going to believe this but I had the same problem and read on another board to remove your SM Card, blow into the slot, and replace the card. I did this as a last resort and it worked. I can only get my camera to read the card if I do this before I insert it. Un-believable!

My cam says "memory card

Hi,
If the camera displays Memory card error or No Memory Card when a memory card is inserted or any of the above error messages, make sure that the card is inserted properly. If this is the case, you may wish to Format the memory card in the camera using the Setup Menu option [Format] as shown below. Please be aware that formatting the memory card will remove any images currently stored on the card along with any other data. This can also be caused when images shot with another camera are stored on the memory card.

If after formatting the card in the camera the error persists, try another memory card. If this occurs with only the one card it is likely that the memory card is defective, if the error persists over more than one card the camera may require service. If the card appears to be defective you may wish to contact the memory card manufacturer.

Thank you!!

My camera is giving me a "no memory card" sign, but the card is inserted correctly. I have taken it out, cleaned it, and put it back, replaced the batteries, and everything. However, to no avail....

If the camera displays Memory card error, No Memory Card, or takes an abnormally long time to write an image to the memory card, when a memory card is inserted or any of the above error messages, make sure that the card is inserted properly. For SD card, make sure that the card lock switch is in the correct position and not stuck in-between.Try formating the memory card ,if after formatting the card in the camera the error persists, try another memory card. If this occurs with only the one card it is likely that the memory card is defective, if the error persists over more than one card the camera may require service.

Keep getting error message "For" or "FDR"- not sure what that means

The "For" message displays either when you are formatting a memory card, or when the card needs to be formatted.

You can do this on your computer, or on the camera by pressing the two buttons (on on the back left and one on the top) at the same time, waiting for the "For" display to start flashing, and then pressing them again.

Both of these buttons have a red rectangle near them with the word "FORMAT" in it.

If you get this with a formatted card, or if it displays after you've formatted the card, then try a new card. If it persists, clean the card contacts inside the camera (carefully!!). You can use alcohol and a Qtip.

You can always find all sorts of good Nikon tips on Kenrockwell.com.

Do a search on D70 there to find his D70material, which is hard to find without doing the search.

You can take out the memory card from camera and then download a memory card recovery software to recover photos from memory card, you can refer to this tutorial that helped me before
http://www.asoftech.com/articles/how-to-recover-lost-photos-from-memory-card.html

If needed, you may do a quick format of the memory card and then use asoftech data recovery to recover your files.

Card error, no card inserted

It is possible that you camera having trouble to the card port. If you are familiar disassembled camera you need to use a circuit tester. Try to resoldered the card port on your camera just to insure the connectivity working.

Just ask near electronic shop to resoldered the card port if you are afraid to avoid damage to your camera. Sometimes this because of a capacitor could no longer supply value of voltage inorder to detect the card.

I don't beleived that this was not affected with a viruses because as what you stated you can used the card through card reader with computer. So that mean's the internal problem is from your camera.

Please let me know any update.
