Upon booting hit the delete key...on most this will take you into the BIOS...scroll through the BIOS with the up and down arrow keys and you will see a boot device selection. There will be 3 options. Primary, secondary, and floppy usually. The model of your hard-drive should be one these selections, along with boot from disk, floppy...etc. Select the hard-drive as the Primary (#1 choice) to boot from. Enter, save and exit.
Hope this helps...good luck.

Your BIOS is looking for a drive to "boot" from and does not see your harddrive or CD-rom.

You may have a harddrive failure or bad drive controller.

One way to see is to load your operating system disc in your CD-rom and see if the computer sees the drive and boots up. If it boots, try to locate your "C" drive. If you can't locate the harddrive, it's a good bet it's damaged.

If the CD-rom doesn't boot, it is most likely a bad drive controller or cable.

Cannot find operating system when booting

Could be your harddrive is out of the system. Check its connections first, then have it detected. If not still been detected try changing cables and power plugging(interchange if it can). Other done than maybe failed drive already.

And before I forgot remove any other booting disc, usb, or flash card. Maybe you left one. Or try to lessen your fan usage during fault finding.

Not finding operating system during boot

Check its connection first for loose. Check if the harddrive is still recognizable and working. It could be some corruption. If it can access in DOS mode.

But the most possible thing could happen is your harddrive needed a replacement.

Acer aspire 5050 hard drive problems

If your computer has been working and when you start it you get the message that there is no hard drive (no boot device), then your hard drive has gone bad.
If you have gone into the bios and don't see either a hard drive or a CD or DVD, then most probably you are looking at a motherboard problem. It is not very common for the hard drive and CD/DVD to go bad at once.

How to Install PS2 Modchip?

what you need: an IDE harddrive (maxtor or seagate works best. ive got a maxtor diamondback or whatever its called), the online adaptor and hdloader. hdloader can only be found on the internet so google it. if youre interested in my setup then you need the original hdloader then you can go to ps2hd.com and find all the other programs if youre interested in doing cogswap (play burned games without a chip) then also search that site for the ps2 exploit disc and cogswap. each harddrive is different and can require differnt jumper settings. look on your harddrive to figue out what is cs or check te company's website where you put your harddrive on the ide cable matters. when i first installed a secondary harddrive in my computer i had to shift my original harddrive down one position to make room for the secondary and allow it to take the secondary position on the ide cable. if you switch them then your computer will tell you "cannot find primary harddrive" and will not boot. one thing that i didnt mention is that you should also ground yourself after grounding the computer. your body can carry static electricity and if it gets discharged inside of your computer you can destroy components like RAM, the motherboard or even harddrives. to ground yourself touch a part of the metal casing of your computer. this will continue to be updated as i find more things that i forgot to say

Wan't boot up

If the dvr isnt booting the harddrive, then the harddrive isnt seated properly in the removeable harddrive drawer, or the harddrive is improperly formated, or you have the wrong type of harddrive, or the master/slave settings on the harddrive are not set properly (master). what ive found is an 80gig/160gig is the most that these things will handle. and some brands work and some brands don't. and the harddrives have to be IDE/EIDE type drives. but it sounds like a harddrive interface problem. They like the older harddrive formatts/(not xp/vista)....good luck!!!!
