Sounds like it is not closing properly so the computer just opens it again ? if it is of the detachable type ( small release tag under computer marked with a closed or open lock icon next to release lever ) take out the drive with the door open it possible , check inside for any obstruction ( favorite place for children's random M&Ms ) if none visible check that the disk holder is below the carrige by using a small ruler place acroos the slide and see if the edges of the disc protrude above if not and you have found no foreign bodies in the drive replace the player into the machine .( I have found that occasionaly during manufacture the cariges are set a little high and as they wear they settle and they then catch on the center spindle ,gently easing the disc spindle holder down usually cures the problem .) There is I am afraid also a software glitch that causes this problem so if you have no joy with the first fix try uninstalling the drive from the Device manager and reinstalling on boot up . you do this by clicking on control panel .. then ... Device manager .. disk drives double click and the drives will appear select dvd and right click then uninstall .. for XP just go Control panel system device manager etc : reeboot and the computer will re install the DVD and hopefully clear the glitch .. hope this is of help to you Regards Vortash

My dell studio keeps rejecting all cd's

sometimes dust particals tend to settle in to the drive and mild oxidation occurs try a non-abrasive disk drive cleaner then put in a blank cd and try to write over the disk.
If this fails you might need a new dirve.

My DVD drive rejects every disk I put into it waht do I do? Its a MacBook Pro

The dvd drive is clogged by dirt and dust - try cleaning it with a can of compressed air and a q-tip or even a cleaning disk if you can't open the case. If it's too dirty you will gonna have to replace it.

Either they put in a bad mother board or damaged yor DVD drive. Maybe they even put in the wrong unit. In any case I'd send it back to them.

When i try to copy dvd it keeps telling me to insert blank disc even though one is in there i can burn cds but not dvd it tells me to put in writeable disk and ive put in dvdr-w and dvd-r and still it...

Go to the device manager to insure your optical drive is in fact a DVD/RW. You should also be able to tell by looking at the front of the drive and see what it says. If it says CD Writable or DVD Rom, you cannot do it. Kind of sounds like you have a CD/RW-DVD Rom combination drive, which does not allow the burning of DVD's.

Let me know, OK.

Laptop Disk Drive want reject.

If you mean the CD or DVD drive,,,then you can take a paper clip and bend it straight,,then put the paper clip into the tiny hole in the front of the CD tray and gently push,,,this will open the tray enough for you to grip it by hand and pull it out the rest of the way.

If your computer rejects the Mac OS X Installation DVD, it means that there's a good chance that your Mac doesn't have an Apple internal DVD drive or an Apple SuperDrive, you'll need Mac OS X 10.4 Install CDs.

If your mac is unable to read the CD or ejects it also, there's something wrong with your DVD\CD drive.

You might want to try loading the DVD on a second computer that is connected with a fire wire to the first computer.

Good luck.
