MY ACER ASPIRE 5573 MULTIRECORDER COULD NOT READ CD/RW ONLY CAN READ DVD/RW ANY SOFTWARE TO FIX THIS TQ IN ADVANCE

Click start control panel,administrive tools,computer management,device manager scroll to cd/dvd rom drives right click properties then properties again then tick enable cd digital cd audio for this cd rom device or scroll to dvd regions select the no _ for your specific area
If this does not fix the problem you might try
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd-rom then plug them back in this should activate the found new hardware wizard

check to see if the cdrom is firmly in place
if yu have other boot cd test
check to see if its reading the cd normally you hear it spinning and low grinding noise
all else fail pick one up here

Surely to load XP is a DownGrade. As this notebook is dual core, I would run Vista 64 or better still Windows 7 64.
If you wish to persist with an old system, you require SP3 for XP.That may be available from a software store but is no longer supported by Windows.

The problem unfortunately will be with the dvd writer dvd laser not functioning or dirty try cleanng the laser with some glass cleaner or cd cleaning packs if the same the dvd drive is faulty and needs replacing

just put the dvd in and open it with windows media center or any other dvd/media software

You need to use DVD burning software and there are several steps to burning DVD's, depending on the source.

That particular drive that you have is a cd writer. It can only read DVD's not write them.

According to the ACER Aspire 6920 specs, it does not have a Blue-ray player only DVD CD R/W drive. Therefore it cannot play blue-ray movie disks.

Try downloading a driver from the net, Or install DVD software such as Roxio or Sonic Cine Player. Does it show in hardware as a CD Rom or DVD/RW ? If it shows as a CD the driver is the problem.
