2wire wireless adaptors

When I try to install my software for my 2wire wireless adapters I get to step 4 and try to put in the serial number and it tells me to retry because it's wrong. I've tried every which way to do it and can't figure out what the problem is.

    Why won't the serial number for the ewire card work. There's no green light on the card when I put it in, I need help, what do I do?

    i'm having the same problem with my 2Wire Wireless Card, i get to step four as the previous guy explains and i go to enter my serial number (S/N) which has both numbers and letters in it. I am doing so on my 98 so i don't know if it's just a problem with my 98. It allows me to enter 12 digit numbers/letters but no luck, plus it also gives me a little picture saying, bottom view of adapter but looks nothing like mine. please help

I have installed 2 2wire adapters with no problem. When using config software utility, don't select gateway (if using only adapter), then continue until sets up. No serial # required unless using a gateway, which is not needed to connect to wireless.

If you have not found the solution yet try using the serial number from the gateway or router

Step 4? What step 4? I don't see a step 4. Maybe you could tell us what software you are trying to install. If it is driver software, tell us what OS and which adapter type the drivers are supporting.

(the 2wire site has twelve (12) sets of instructions for 12 different drivers - which are you working with?)

Is this the serial number for the card or the serial number for the software (there may be a license code for the software).

If that fails you should get into contact with the manufacturer and they should step you through the problem

Can't access 2wire network using netgear adapter

I was also having trouble with my Netgear wireless n USB adapter connecting to my new at@t 2WIRE gateway. The problem was that the netgear software wouldn't allow my computer to stay connected to my 2WIRE gateway and the software wouldn't allow Windows when restarting my computer. I have Windows XP and after hours with at@t support there was no resolution and they gave me Netgear's suport number to call 1-888-638-4327. After 10 min. the problem was fixed. They had me click start icon at bottom left corner then all programs, then highlight "start up" and if you see anything like netgear adapter or netgear start up wizard right click on it and click delete. That was it! rebooted my computer and it connected automatically!!! I'm not very computer knowledgable but I hope this helped

I need help installing my 2wire wireless adapter card.

I used this one:

Introduction
============
This document describes the procedure to install driver for the 2Wire Wireless USB Adapter under Microsoft Windows, and to run a wireless configuration program to configure your 2Wire Wireless USB Adapter to work with a 2Wire HomePortal or OfficePortal wireless gateway. These drivers work under Microsoft Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, and XP.

STEP 1 - Driver Installation
============================
1. Make sure your 2Wire Wireless USB Adapter has not been connected to your computer USB port.
2. Double-click on the file to run WinZip Self-Extractor. The driver installation files will be placed in your hard disk in the C:\TWWUSB_TEMP directory
3. Connect your 2Wire Wireless USB Adapter to an available USB port in your computer. Windows Found New Hardware Wizard will startup.
4. Select the option to search for driver in specific location. Specify C:\TWWGUSB_TEMP as the location of driver.
5. Follow on-screen instruction to finish driver installation.

STEP 2 - Wireless Configuration
===============================
1. Run the program WirelessCfg.exe in the directory C:\TWWGUSB_TEMP. You can do so by clicking on the Windows Start button and select Run. The Windows Start button is typically at the lower left corner of the screen. Type in C:\TWWGUSB_TEMP\WirelessCfg.exe to launch the program.
2. Follow on-screen instruction to configure your wireless setting. Enter the serial number and encryption key as they are printed on the bottom of your 2Wire wireless gateway.
