"That's the file that XP uses to start. Sometimes it just becomes corrupted and doesnt work or goes MIA. But if youre on an XP machine now. Go to system root (C:) and make sure youre viewing all files, file extentions and system files (Set these in Tools>Folder Options>View) and just copy thats machines NTLDR file to a floppy disk. You will see it at system root after system files are showing. And while youre on that machine you could also make a NTFS bootable floppy, or use a 98 boot disk as well. That way you can get to the command propt and dump the new NTLDR into YOUR C: drive. If youre confused by any of that please let me know, we all love to help :)"

Quoted from 0S1R1S on another site,
but is correct, may need to go into safe mode to load this into the computer. from operating pc to another. if you have a friend that also has the XP software you can copy it from thier pc. Hope it helps.

I have a HP Pavilion dv8225nr notebook pc and when I plug the ac adapter into the notebook the battery light keeps blinking and it wont hold a charge. When I keep it plugged in and I turn it on it wont...

It is most likely a bad AC adapter. One way to test it is to remove your battery (I put the steps to do this below) and just plug the laptop in with the battery removed. If it does not power up then your AC adapter is bad. You can buy new batteries online or at your local electronics store. I would advise against buying them from a store though because they are usually much more expensive. I did a quick google search and found some on amazon for a pretty good price.
http://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-DV8225NR-Battery-Replacement/dp/B003KVZIQ2

Remove the battery by following these steps:

a. Turn the computer upside down with the front panel

toward you.
b. Slide and hold the battery release latch to the left.

(The front edge of the battery disengages from

the computer.)
c. Lift the front edge of the battery up and swing it back.

d. Remove the battery.

Por que me sale an internal error in the initialization stage

Initialing stage is indication that the computer is undergoing restore to system default. First, at which stage where the computer stops performing restore is indication that disk is either scatched or dusty requiring cleaning. Power shut the computer completely from the shut off button because attempting to press the disk button instantly would cause impact that may damage the restore disk. Power on the computer from the power on button area. Immediately press the disk button to before the computer attempts to capture the media in disk driver. The computer disk driver should pop open immediately to make available the disk. At which point, inspect the restore disk for scratches or dust by simply cleaning with clean tissue paper. Also, observe the disk for compartibility with the computer systems. For example a computer performing on windows XP would least require update restore with disks that are Windows 7. Discontinue restore if realised that the computer is inconpartible to the disk attempting to derive restoration from. If the condition was due to dusty or scratches, simply cleaning the disk should make commenceable the restore process.

I am trying to restore to factory settings... f11 at start up does not work, there is no "back up and recovery" in the start menu

In that case you have to options:
1 - you order at HP a recovery disk - it will cost you around $25 .
2 - you install Windows using a generic retail disk and the key on the label, then you load manually all the drivers - you can find them here

HP DV8225NR no sound no device detected windows xp

No device means you have a driver installed for sound. Go to the HP site. go to support and downloads, look up your model laptop and download and install the audio driver.

Laptop keeps shutting off. Runs for a little while and then shuts off. Doing a restore it shuts off at 65%

You may have an infection.
If you (your work) are backed up, I would try reformatting the drive to start completely fresh.

Incidentally, while trying to get a customer's older HP functioning again and numerous tries to restore from the 8 CDs that came with it, I found defective files on two disks.
I ordered a new set; $80.
It had one bad CD.
After an angry (maybe threatening) phone call to India about the defective set, they shipped a new set; $22 (shipping)
It had TWO disks unreadable.
I finally put together a working set from the 24 CDs to finally get the restore to stick.
BTW, The disk verification was being done on my shop system, not the HP.
I no longer accept HP or Compaq anythings.

Factory.settings

Hi,

According to what you have said, you might have created the Recovery disks after purchasing the notebook. Now you are trying to restore the notebook to factory settings, but they are not working.

Even you have tried to F11 options to restore notebook using the Recovery partition of your notebook.

Let me assist you in this regard.

If the recovery disks are not booting, then we have to check if the issue is with the disks or with the CD/DVD drive itself.

To check that, you need to try to boot with any other OS CD. If the notebook is booting with other OS disks, then the issue is with the Recovery disks itself.

Even F11 option is not working, you have to make sure that D: Recovery is not removed.

For your information, if the issue is with the Recovery disks, then you can purchase the Recovery disks from Hp at very low price.

You can order them from the below link:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=500508

Under
CD-ROM order page - Recovery Discs you can order the place order for Recovery disks.
