Question about Pioneer VSX-D308 Receiver

1 Answer

I was playing my Pioneer rack system as usual when it suddenly stopped playing. Upon looking at the receiver< I noticed that a message read "POWEROFF" on the screen. When I attempted to turn it on by using the power button the "POWEROFF" message returned to the display. What is the deal? Is there a fuse or a possible power supply outage? Thanks Barry

Hi

Please disconect all the speaker wires from the reciever and then check if it still displays the same Power off error message. Also check for there are no speaker wires shorted with each other(remeber shorts can also be internal). Also check no stray wires are touching the speaker wires. And if the speaker wires are fine and no internal shorts are found then its the audio amplifier IC which is faulty. You'll need to get the IC replaced with a new one to get the reciever working.

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

I have a Pioneer VSX D412 S receiver with my Pioneer surround sound system The system SUDDENLY STOPPED RECEIVING SOUND SIGNAL FROM MY HD TV

  1. Turn the TV and receiver off and back on. This is called "power cycling" the devices.
  2. Check the menu settings to make certain the TV is still sending a sound signal out to the receiver.
  3. Disconnect the cable, blow both ends out, reconnect, and see if the cable was partially disconnected or has dust or lint interfering with the connections.
  4. Change the cable for another cable that you know to be working.
  5. Use a different source for the TV: DVD, Cable, different channel, etc.
  6. Connect the receiver to another TV.

I just installed my pioneer avid d3 on my truck like a week ago and now it won't read the cd or play DVDs cause it's says thermal error everytime you put a cd or DVD in

Hi,

Try to cover it with a cloth, it may be too much light hitting a sensor, more likely the heat from the dash/windscreen, try it when the vehicle is cold/shaded.

Thanks,

Adam.

Our Pioneer Receiver VSX-312 gave us an OVERLOAD error message while trying to play a DVD and a music CD, and there is no sound. It was really hot. After it cooled off, we tried it again and it did the...

This sounds like the audio power amp has shorted which explains the heat when it failed and the cool temperature when you tried to turn it back on. Usually these recievers have a removable bottom plate that lets you access the bottom of the boards. As there are usually 4-8 transistors along a heat sink that are paired. Check them in diode scale and look for multiple values of 0 from any single transistor. If it gives you 3 or more readings of 0 then its shorted. They also may read low, around 70 or less.In which case it needs to be replaced.

Pioneer VSX-D411 receiver "Amp Error" message

Hello,
Unfortunatelly your receiver has failed. The front panel is telling you one of the power modules is probably bad. Not an DIY type of repair. These parts are near $40.00, plus cost of replacing.
Look at options to replace your trusted receiver with a new one.
Good luck
