If it is a Gateway computer, Gateway has any bios updates there might be. Search the Gateway site for your computer's model number.

What issue are you hoping a bios update will solve?

Updating with the _WRONG_ BIOS-update can _kill_ your motherboard. If you don't know how to do it _CORRECTLY_ then don't it, or get a certified technician to do it.

Steps in flashing BIOS
How to Reflash Motherboard BIOS About updating BIOS... The whole BIOS updating procedure should be treated with extreme caution. If you do not encounter any system instability or bugs with the current BIOS version, we suggest that you keep it. If you determine to flash BIOS, you are taking a personal risk of BIOS flash failure. Please contact your supplier or our distributors/resellers for further remedy in case system crashes unfortunately because of BIOS flash failure. Before you begin... 1. Please make sure the BIOS version you want to flash matches your motherboard model. 2. If your BIOS is flash protected, please do not enable BIOS Flash Protection under Advanced CMOS Setup (AMI BIOS) or Advanced BIOS Features (AWARD BIOS) in BIOS menu. 3. Never interrupt when you BIOS is being updated. 4. Because BIOS flashing is potentially risky, if you do not encounter problems using the current version of BIOS, it is recommended that you not flash the BIOS. To flash the BIOS, do it with caution. Inadequate BIOS flashing may result in system malfunction. Three BIOS Flash Utilities... We provide three BIOS flash utilities at our website. Below are the overviews. 1 : flashbios_qflash.gif A BIOS flash utility embedded in Flash ROM. Features-- With this utility, you only have to stay in the BIOS menu when you want to update BIOS. No need to enter DOS or O.S. mode. Caution-- Make sure you have a functional floppy disk with the correct BIOS version for your motherboard. UEFI - Download PDF User Guide pdf.gif Download PDF User Guide pdf.gif 2 : flashbios_atbios.gif A Windows-based BIOS live update utility. Features-- @BIOS helps you search for, download, and then update the latest BIOS in Windows operating system. Caution-- Make sure your O.S. environment is stable. UEFI - Download PDF User Guide pdf.gif Download PDF User Guide pdf.gif 3 : DOS Flash utility Features-- The flash utility is a combination of AMI and AWARD BIOS flash utility. You can use it with both AMI and AWARD BIOS. Caution-- Make sure you have a functional DOS boot disk with the correct BIOS version for your motherboard.

Tip

How to tweak your computer

Step 1
Back up important files. This includes impotant datas stored on your computer
Step 2
Update the firmware of your computers BIOS. Also update or patch your OS to the lates update and even your hardware devices must be updated as well.
Step 3
Also before proceeding ,remember to get a BENCHMARK test program that will help you see the changes and also monitor the temp. of your processor after overclocking
Make sure that your BIOS is also set to shutdown once illegal voltage or temp. will be detected
Step 4
Ensure that the CPU FAN is clean and is still calibrated to the right rpm
Step 5
Power on your unit ,hit the hotkey to access setup. On the BIOS go to ADV. CHIPSET option. Then look for"clocks, "frequency/voltage control" or "voltage options." This will look unique on each brand of computer. You can overclock by modifying "CPU bus frequency" or "CPU FSB frequency." Increase this value slightly. In some cases, you will be able to increase your "CPU multiplier" through the BIOS.If your BIOS has none of these options, your motherboard is not capable of overclocking the processor.
Step 6
You can also try overclocking your MEMORY AND VIDEO speed. Some motherboards have this options on the BIOS as well
Step 7
You can consult your motherboards manual to know the operating voltage of your cpu or type in the model of the board on yahoo or google.

I have a sort of bios i think it is intel motherboard and i want to get my bios updated what to do ?

if you have a working motherboard you should have a bios not a "sort of it". (just wanted to clarify). bios is a chip/sofware built into your motherboard that helps during the booting process and intervines in between your sofware and your hardware communications.

if you want to update your bios (also call flashing your bios) you need to have a good reason for it, (to fix a problem known to be your bios or to enhance features or performance) in other words if you just want to upgrade your bios for the heck of it it's better not to do it becuase if something goes wrong your motherboard is totalled. (the rule of thumb to apply in this case is: if it's not broken to fix it.)

now if you do have a valid reason to do it. there are different ways to do it. the first thing to do is to find out your motherboard manufacturer or the company that supports that motherboard installed in your system and have details like the model number, the number is usually found on the printings rigth on the motherboard (biggest numbers/letter combination on the motherboard. sometimes you can get those details from the pc manufacturer if the motherboard came installed in brand system.

the second thing you do is to go on the internet to the mb's manufacturer website or pc manufacturer website and look for the model of your pc or motherboard under technical support>drivers and dowloads section (the names and locations may change).

once you have the package downloaded you need to look for instructions on how to proceed, as the way to flash your bios may differ.
usually you would burn or create a startup disk and then you would boot from the disk and run a procedure to execute the bios update. one important consideration is to make sure your system is powered at all times during the flashing process and hopefully your system is surge protected as if the process fails you may need to replace mb/system.

if you want to provide mb details or system details we can help you find the bios update you may be looking for.

BIOS update for Asus A7V-ML

For branded computers like HP, Compaq, Dell the only place you can get the correct bios updates would be your computer manufacturer website under the support link. These companies do not use industry standard motherboards so it could corrupt your system to update from any other source. Hope this helps.
