Grundig Super Colour TV Serie F 3016 - lack of responce from remote control.

My old Grundig Super Colour 16" ? TV Serie F 3016 has stopped responding to commands sent by the remote control.  I have tried 2 remote controls (both originals) with new batteries but to no avail, even after stripping and cleaning their internal keyboard contacts which makes me suspect the TV itself.  The TV is normally used every other day but this lack of response occurred following a weeks holiday when it wasn't used.  Tell me if there is a battery within this TV set which will require replacement to solve this problem before I extract it from its housing in our wardrobe top cupboard and delve into its innards.  If it is not a battery problem what else is it likely to be also is a circuit diagram or service manual still available?  The set works OK otherwise using its own control panel to change channels and its on/off switch to turn it on and off.  I am an old electronics engineer hence understand circuitry but just need help / data for this repair. Thanks in advance.  Chris Walton Tel:0116-284-7000 working hours, or 0116-239-2160 evenings/weekends.

Toshiba 32a14 does not respond to remote control

There is a infrared light sensor inside the TV which detects the infrared rays emitted from the remote control, when we press each button on the remote control. If this sensor has got damaged, the set won't respond to any remote control handset. The sensor can be located just behind the infrared sensor window at the front panel of the TV. To access it, you have to open the TV. It is a three terminal component, will be soldered diretily to front panel circuit board, of with the main baord itslef. Will look somewhat brownish black in colour. There are so many types can be seen . Just look what type if fitted with your TV.

Television response.

Try to locate the line of sight sensor on your TV that does not respond to the remote. The lack of response indicates that the sensor on the TV needs to be cleaned. It does not take much (dust, wax, cleaner residue) to block the signal.

Tv on standby

Hi Kjunse,

The Television may be faulty, but without reading the manual I can't say for sure. If you want to risk spend some money to find out, here is a link to a website selling the remote control you require for the GF70-600 TV. I've not had any dealings with the company but you could always contact them to check your buying an original (OEM*) Grundig remote before you buy one.

*OEM means, Original Equipment Manufacturer.

Hope this is helpful.

SHARP T.V. not responding to remote, but remote isn't broken

Same thing happened to my Sharp 29 inch. Stopped responding to original remote the first time, but a universal worked fine. Eventually it stopped responding too all universal remotes. The remotes are good, they work with my VCR, DVD player, and Receiver. It's a nice TV, but having to get up and adjust the volume every commercial break got old a few decades ago! If anyone has any other possible solutions aside from getting the sensor replaced...would be great to hear it.
