Sorry for posting this, I have found several troubleshooting for similar problems, but they don't seem to match. Today for apparently no reason (except a possible emp blast close to the computer), the color on the screen has taken a slight purple like hue, and increased brightness. The pure black on screen is dark purple instead. The OCD shows normal colors and the self test also show normal colors. The colors are wrong even when in the BIOS. If I use the auto adjust button, the screen ,for about 2 seconds while it is adjusting, actually shows the original screen color, before resetting back to this funky color.

Re: Cant figure out color issue with computer.
Well...it's a Dell and even when it's well...it's still a Dell. Have you tried the monitor on different system to eliminate the tower being the problem? Some have updated and/or rolled back drivers to help cure this problem, which seems to be a common issue with this LCD. Personally i think the contrast ratio is inadequate. Good luck with your Delllll...
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

its on a dell monitor right
apparently these monitors have always had this problem some have'nt some have
no-one knows why not even dell
here are one post on how to fix the problem
Hey, I found a recent posting by someone else with the same prob----their solution seems to work (so far!) Try this: click "turn off computer" but don't turn it off....your wallpaper turns the typical "gray" color in prep to shut down---on the monitor, hit the "plus" button to execute an "auto adjust"---do this about 3 times....... so far, it works!
I have a similar issue. A search at Tomshardware web site suggests that faulty capacitors are the issue and that this is a widespread problem certainly with the VX922. Several guys on the Tomshardware post claimed that replacing the capacitors solved the problem (their units were out of warranty anyway).
By all means, take it back where you got it. More than likely the computer is groaning about something simple like the location of the hard drive on the data-ribon. The place you purchased this machine will more than likely figure this out. I would go into details about how to fix the issue, but there are several things that " could " be happening, and i'm not comfortable sending a novice into thier bios settings, or opening the case to determine the exact issue.
sorry, not really a solution, but may help point you in right direction. I have similar or same problem with my monitor but is an f1903 (HP). I recommend you look at the f1903 board postings to see those answers. Several seem identical for fixes and fix may possibly be cheap, but unfortunately noone has posted how to open the monitor up to actually check it inside. This is the tricky part, as seems no catches or buttons are present and removing back screws do not let the monitor case open without some type of special trick or move. If you figure it out, please tell us all! Thanks
This is not a solution, sorry but we are having a similar problem, in that one day all the color just went wonky - too contrasty and red. We sort of fixed it by radically changing the color settings, but can't figure out why it happened...?
