A multi meter will work fine,But it is not going to prevent you from shorting something out,Only you can prevent that.

2006 Chevy Silverado 5.3 Code B2610

DTC B2610
Circuit Description
The body control module (BCM) receives a variable voltage signal from the instrument panel (I/P) dimmer switch requesting to illuminate the illumination lamps to a desired intensity. When this occurs, the BCM directly sends a variable voltage based on the I/P dimmer switch position on the instrument panel lamps dimming supply voltage circuit, instrument panel lamps dimming control circuit, and the LED dimming signal circuit.
Voltage for the instrument panel lamps dimming supply voltage circuit, instrument panel lamps dimming control circuit, and the LED dimming signal circuits is from the TBC 2 A fuse in the instrument panel fuse block directly through the BCM to these circuits.

1
Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?
YES - Go to Step 2
NO - Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information
2
Is the TBC 2 A fuse in the instrument panel fuse block open?
YES - Go to Step 3
NO - Go to Step 4
3
Test the instrument panel lamps dimming control circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
YES - Go to Step 11
NO - Go to Step 8
4
Test the instrument panel lamps dimming supply voltage circuit and the instrument panel lamps dimming control circuit for an open, high resistance, short to voltage or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
YES - Go to Step 11
NO - Go to Step 5

Are you confused yet ? The info above is a Chevy factory repair manual diagnostic flow chart for DTC B2610 . Your best bet would be to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop .

Test the relais condenser and replace , and test again if the fuse is blown.
Otherwise you must go to the repair shop.
The short is the most difficult are to isolate.
You will need a VOM.

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND BLOWER MOTOR QUIT TOGETHER.

Belief it or not your problem may be at one off your electric fans, also a possibility your a/c compressor coil shorted, so disconnect your a/c condenser fan and your a/c compressor check them for short and replace has needed, here is the logic every time you turn your heater on defrost it will cycle your a/c and it will blow your fuse, there is a circuit breaker on fuse box by left kick panel way up make sure it is in good condition push on it and you will feel it click if trigger, is not spring back it may be at fault to, replace it. good luck

First remove the power plug from the smps and press the power switch few time and wait for few minutes the re plug the power connector to the smps and switch on the computer if you still dont have power then you will have to check whether the smps work to test that its not enough to test the voltage in the 21/24 pin you will have to short the green wire and the black wire and see whether the smps fan is working if the fan is not working then the problem is with smps

In winter the refrigerator make ice not in summer, just cleaned the evaporator which was totally cove with dust, noticed also that the compressor is hot and all the coopper pipes also are very hot, what...

The reason everything is hot is because you stopped the unit from "Breathing" through the condenser (not evaporator) by allowing dust to build up.
This is how the system disperses heat absorbed in the freezer section (evaporator).

Condenser fan motor does not run

You will have to test for voltage at the fans plug.If voltage is present.ensure that earth is ok,if the earth is faulty, earthing will cause fan to work. Also try giving the fan motor a few taps with a hammer,it may start but will need to be replaced.
Some fans have an extra signal wire.test that this is working when air is on and temp is dropped.
A failed fan will cause overheating in the air cond system which will cause the seals to rupture and loss of pressure=no cooling.
I hope this helps,or get back to me with further findings from tests and perhaps vehicle model info.

Look at the contactor on the condensing unit, remove the low voltage wires to the contactor and turn on the system. If the low voltage fuse doesn't blow, replace the contactor.

Fan will not shut off, but compressor does

hi! there, continous fan motor when unit was shutt off, since supply source was already cut off specially on fan condenser motor, the supply of your motor was came from relay mounted on your circuit board control panel, there a holding coil to hold the connection between your fan and ac source, shut off breaker for ac unit first before diagnosing ac unit, try to check this out the relay is still activated giving ac source when shut off,the contactor on relay holding your ac supply was shorted, try to check the connection the circuit activating condenser fan relay, eliminate the short circuit, using multi tester test rod,use manual diagram for circuit control board to lessen complicated diagnosing, focus on fan relay ac source then isolate checking the short circuit replace defective relay, contact point of relay are not repairable.take necessary precaution on checking to avoid shock, this a hard task i would suggest that certified ac technician w/ full knowledge of instrumentation should do this.thank's for selecting fixya and have a nice day.
