Question about Acer TravelMate 2300 Notebook

1 Answer

When reloading the Acer Travelmate 2300 I used the Boot disc then disc 1 of 2, and then disc 2 of 2. During Disc 2 of 2 the computer stops and gives me a decompression error saying ghost has detected corruption in the image file run an integrity check on the image file. What kind of error is this and how do I fix it?

If your computer does not have a hidden partition for OS recovery, a recovery CD will be required in order to recover the Operating System using Acer Recovery Media.
Order the Recovery Media from Acer https://secure.tx.acer.com/RCDB/Main.aspx?brand=acer
  1. Restart the computer.
  2. When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the F12 key repeatedly to enter the computer's Boot Menu.
  3. Press the CD-ROM drive eject button and insert the disc labeled System CD.
  4. Close the CD-ROM tray.
  5. Refer to on screen instructions to select either CDROM or USB CDROM.
  6. The computer will boot from the Acer Recovery Media
  7. When prompted for the Recovery CD, remove the System CD and insert the Recovery CD.

Note: If there are multiple Recovery CDs, please insert the first of the Recovery CDs.

  8. After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
Note: if your computer is unable to run the Acer Recovery process, or errors occur during recovery, please contact Acer support.

How to install windows 7 for a new travelmate 5720

Just place the disc into the dvd rom, power on the computer and follow the prompts.
Usually you'll have to change the boot order under setup. Pay attention to any messages that pop up once you power on the computer, usually press the ESC key during boot up will give you a better idea of what key to push to enter into the setup or to choose which boot device to run first.
Hope this info helps!

My computer doesnt work.

It happened to me , I changed the hard disc. However , similar thing happened to my friend , I reloaded the windows . Its fine and working. Try latter one as a first resort. Just start the comp hit the F12 /F8 , select the reboot disc as the first option , insert the disc and restart. If you press and hold the power button , it will stop and press again to start. it will boot the disc and may reload. If this is not working take a chance changing the hard drive. You may get it for 15 quid or so. Try few thing before giving for repair. Make sure that your disc drive is working. All the best.

2310 disc drive constantly runs up then down

Make sure there isn't a disc already in the drive, if there isn't then the drive is bad, if there is take it out and see if it stops running up and down.

Acer travelmate 2420

Hello! :)
The first thing I would have you do is to shutdown the computer (Hold the power button until the system turns off) and retry the format. Are you using a Microsoft XP disc or a recovery disc? If your not sure just post with all of the text that appears on the CD.
