Re: System Locks Up?
Plug the mp3 player back in if there isn't any songs on or your not fussed if you loose the data which is on it go to "My Computer" look for the mp3 player prefrably called "Removable device" or something like that once you've found it make sure it's the mp3 player then right click on it and click "Format".
This to me just sounds like a bug. Once you've formatted try to do player updates which may remove this bug and stop from happening again.

im getting the same problem as well...it crashes after i reset it and when i want to go on a particular track it would freeze...i have given up with it...gonna try and delete everything from it and try to completely restart it if i can
1.download the appropriate firmware from here2.press and hold reset button for 2 seconds 3.run the firmware updater 4.press and hold "play" button while connecting to system. 5.the updater will detect the player and it will upgrade the firmware.
All you have to do is right click and "undo delete" Unless you already disconnected the MP3 player and/or restarted the computer. If your critical files were deleted (like the ones that run the player) then go to http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=NWE505 and select your operating system and it will install them
I haven't experienced the problem but I've heard of it. Try replacing the batteries. That's what one of my friends did. Sorry if it dosn't work. My friends aren't very good with MP3s. All of them already broke at least one.
Hope it works
