Question about SanDisk Sansa e200 MP3 Player
When pluged into a usb, of any sort apparently, the system just freezes
and I too just had it given to me by a friend whos had it for a while
and doesnt know where the book is.
Plug the mp3 player back in if there isn't any songs on or your not fussed if you loose the data which is on it go to "My Computer" look for the mp3 player prefrably called "Removable device" or something like that once you've found it make sure it's the mp3 player then right click on it and click "Format".
This to me just sounds like a bug. Once you've formatted try to do player updates which may remove this bug and stop from happening again.
Good luck. Hope my solution helped.

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
