HI my viewsonic monitor is hving problem when i switch on my system it shows me a horizontal line on the screen, except that line i cant see any thing and eveything else is black on the screen..

The entire image is squeezed in that thin line because the vertical deflection unit has failed - the monitor will have to be opened, the vertical circuit identified and replaced - all this must be done by a repairman so take it as fast as you can to one. If you keep it functioning this way for long the screen will be burned.

There is a line down the center of the screen

whether the line-shaped vertical or horizontal? if it appears a horizontal line on your side, it signifies the vertical rays do not exit the screen or your TV vertical part is not working. damage can be caused by IC Vertical, or in the vertical deflection coil yoke.dan if a line that appears is from top to bottom that indicates the horizontal section is not working, usually there is a problem of the deflection yoke is not connected or defective.

Three coloured lines appered on the screen - no picture

If there is no picture and 3 vertical lines in the center of the screen, stop. Turn off TV. You have no horizontal deflection happening. Lines will burn into crts and be permanently visible after repair.

No horizontal deflection is caused by Horizontal sweep circuit failure, maybe flyback transformer and associated components. More than a simple do-it-yourself repair.

TV BLACK SCREEN WITH THE POWER ON.

It needs repair.
If the line is vertical, then something is damaged on its horizontal circuit section on the mainboard.
If the line is horizontal, the vertical circuit section is damaged.
have it repaired to a qualified service center or person!
avoid switching it to avoid further damage on other parts!

Ps 27123 have sound, tuning etc only small horizontal color band

Hello bdedrick708,

If what you are trying to say is that you have a 1/4 inch horizontal line across your screen, this means that something in your vertical deflection circuit has failed. This could be the vertical oscillator, the vertical output processor, the vertical coupling capacitor, or the vertical section of the yoke transformer.

If what you are talking about is a vertical line from top to bottom then you are possibly talking about a failed horizontal section of the yoke transformer.

Why so little about the horizontal section of the yoke? That is because if the horizontal section fails completely then you would lose high voltage and no line would be present because you would not have raster (screen light).

In any even check the yoke transformer first. Then work back from there.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

The tv screen is moving really fast

This is your VSync. On older TVs, there is a dial you can adjust to hold the image in place. Do this only if all channels are appearing with the same vertical movement.

Green vertical line on the right side of screen

Warranty still alive?
Hope so; the problem could be an expensive one.

The screen appearance is controlled by allowing light from a backlight through by turning pixels off and on.
This switching is done by a matrix that turns on vertical and horizontal pixels of the right shade at the right time to produce the image you see.
One of the control elements for the vertical that controls the transmission of green light from the backlight, has died (no longer switching off and on when told) and these are normally a part of the LCD screen assembly itself and not easily replaceable.

I would be talking to Sharp - this shouldn't happen in 6-7 months of use.
