Question about Audio Players & Recorders
90 bucks sound pretty not-practical for the 15 year-old receiver, but if the sound is worth it i guess sparing 50 bucks or less will do the job.
if you are willing to buy an online service manual for this rig, it will show you what to replace and how to have the small LED / bulb replaced for a little about 11$.

The backlight on the display is either failing or not getting enough power. You will have to disassemble the unit to fix this. If it is under warranty, I would advise using it. If not, then replacing the light itself is the easier and most likely problem occurring. Let me know if you have any further questions. Opening it up requires removing all of the outer screws holding on the outer panel.
