If this is just a refrigerator then have enough room for the cord .Maybe a inch. What model? If its a icemaker you would need a little more.(2inches)

Reading error code ER 1F on refrigerator

thats a communication error between the ice room fan and the control board. if you pull the freezer door out and look at the back wall on the left side. you'll see the indent for the ice room fan. its probably frozen. you can unplug the fridge and use a hair dryer to blow heat directly on fan for about 20-30 min. then plug fridge back in. if that does't clear the code. then you're going to have to replace the fan.

well thats normal mate you cannot prevent this ... perhaps try draging your fridge away from the wall so it sits about 100mm off the wall

The door frame of the refrigerator gets way too hot. the lady said it burnt her finger it was so hot. its a maytag msb2354grq

It's usually caused by the condenser fan which is underneath around back. If it's not running when the compressor runs it will cause the problem you describe. You will need to remove the cardboard backing on the back of the fridge to access the fan.
Here's how to test the fan.

2003 Whirlpool Conquest Refrigerator side by side Fix or Replace?

Before jumping the gun on such as this, use your eyes and look for possible problems. Check the back wall of the freezer for frost buildup which would indicate a defrost system problem. Check the condenser where heat is rejected to the room air, located in back under refrigerator. If it is dirty with dust buildup it should be cleaned out.

Hotpoint hss25gp Not keeping cold or freezing

Check and clean the condenser coils where heat is transfered to the room air. If they are plugged with dust it will cause your problem. Check the back wall of the freezer for snow. If snow is on the back wall you have a defrost system problem.
