The computer registers the second monitor being plugged in and I can set the screen up in display as extend desktop onto this monitor but it is still blank. Restarted multiple times doesnt do anything it knows the monitor is there its just blank.

The monitor is set to 59Hz and im using a VGA cable dont have a DVI output. The monitor worked for about 10minutes when i was playing a game earlier it just switched on then later switched off. Tried restarting it and changing the monitor detect in the bios to auto and both doesnt make a difference. The graphics card in my laptop is geforce go 7300 guessing its a problem with that

On the laptop, you'll need to change the video mode so that the laptop knows to send the signal out the VGA port. The two common ways of doing this are to find the Function key and the monitor toggle button. It's usually one of the F-Keys at the top of the keyboard in combination with the Fn key at the bottom. Hold the Fn Key and press the toggle key a time or two with the external monitor connected. If this doesn't work, or you can't find the keys, leave the monitor connected and reboot the laptop. When the laptop boots up, the OS should detect the external monitor and automatically turn it on when the OS boots.

What resolution do you have the secondary monitor set to (in the operating system)? Also, check the output frequency in the Advanced section of the video display properties. Many monitors don't like to go over 60-70Hz, they'll just refuse to display anything and go to sleep. Are you using VGA or DVI from laptop to monitor?

I think you're right. If the video card in the laptop is working properly, and the OS sees the second monitor connected and is able to configure the settings, but no output is being produced, yet it was working before and then suddenly stopped, AND it works with other laptops... I'm going to put my vote on a hardware failure at or near the VGA output port on your laptop after it leaves the video card in the laptop. You could help confirm this by connecting your laptop VGA port to another monitor or LCD TV to see if it will display anything on another device.

When i plug up the L1975NW lcd monitor what should show up ?

"no input" means that there is no signal from computer or the monitor cable is unplugged. When you first turn on monitor it usually does a self test and then looks for signal. Not connected to PC will give a no signal. If it is connected but PC is off (not unplugged) then it should go into standby as you vid card will be sending a standby signal to any monitor connected. Sometimes the Plug and Play monitors need to register before it will recognize a standby signal from PC, so plug it up and boot up PC. Then shutdown normally, your monitor should go into standby when the PC shuts down.

Hi. Hope some can help. I have an acer aspire one AOD150. Somehow my settings have changed for the monitor and I am unable to change it back. My in-built laptop monitor is using the plug and play monitor...

Fist press the input on your remote to make sure the tv is in VGA mode so it can receive the signal from the laptop. The with the laptop plugged into that port you should see your desktop on the tv.

Screen comes on says Acer then No Signal, and goes out. if shut power off and then back on get same result.

This means the monitor believes it's not connected to the computer. Verify the cables first of all. Then try booting in safe mode (F8 key at PC startup) in order to verify that the PC is sending data to the proper video port (you might have a dual VGA / Digital output, for example, and the monitor might be connected to the wrong PC port). Quite often, a "bad signal" will be the same of "no signal"; and you can have a bad signal if the monitor resolution on the PC is set too high. This could happen if you installed a high-resolution capable monitor, and then replaced it with a not-completely-plug-and-play, lower resolution one. The PC would keep sending hi-res signals to a monitor which can neither interpret them, nor tell the PC "please slow down". To check this last possibility, reboot your computer while the monitor is ON. When PCs reboot, they usually drop back to standard VGA signaling, which all monitors understand. If the monitor abruptly comes to life and displays a boot screen, then goes No Signal again after several seconds, you've got a resolution issue; get in Safe Mode with F8 key at boot, and modify the screen properties (right-mouse button on the desktop, then Properties).

If everything else fails, try also connecting the monitor to another PC or laptop, to see if it works there.

Hi,when i switch my acer aspire 5100 on,it boots up but the monitor(screen)does not come on

Is your monitor turned on? If so, then you likely have a dead monitor. Try plugging a different monitor into your computer and see if it works. Then get a new monitor.
Good Luck!
