Question about Dell Computers & Internet

0E 6 not responding when opening

I have win xp home with sp3 and IE 7
Out of the blue I opened OE6 and when I would touch or move the mouse it would immediately go into the ''not responding'' mode and the mouse would turn into the hour glass.I would have to ctr/alt/delete to end OE6. I tried over & over to fix this from forum info, MS knowledge base, searched the internet for answers tried to install OE6 which I can't because I have IE 7. Reinstalled IE 7 with an overwrite thinking it might help. Can't uninstall IE 7 as it does not have a add/remove in control panel.
So help please, I desperately need my OE6 to open!
Thanks,
Charli

I have a couple of solutions. First is to reset IE7 with the following procedure.

  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  3. On the Advanced tab, click Reset.
  4. In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset to confirm.
If this doesn't work, then go to the following link to reinstall IE7

Another solution is to go to windows update and get any updates that are required

To rebuild Folders.dbx, or make it writeable if it is read-only

    1. Quit Outlook Express.
    2. Click Start, click Search, and then click Other files or folders.
    3. Under Look in, click the disk on which Windows is installed.
    4. In the Name of file or folder box, type:
      folders.dbx
    5. Click More advanced options.
    6. Select the Search system folders check box.
    7. Select the Search hidden files and folders check box.
    8. Click Search.
    9. In the results list, right-click Folders or Folders.dbx, and then click Properties.
    10. If the Read-only check box is selected, clear it, and then skip to step 13.

If the Read-only check box is not selected, click Cancel.
    11. Right-click Folders or Folders.dbx, click Rename, and then type:
      folders.old
    12. Press ENTER.
    13. Restart Outlook Express.

    More soultions

    1. Use roll back to a date when OE 6 worked

    2. You say you can open OE6, use your keyboard to clear out messages rather than your mouse.

    3.Do an online virus check.

    4. install IE8

    5. Install Outlook 2003

You need a new mouse. Upgrading an OS will not fix a hardware problem.

Yes you can do that. Everything will be intact after you install it, so don`t worry. The emails are store on the server not on your computer, so they`re safe too.

Unable to use Micrografx Picture Publisher 10.0 with Win 7

Make sure that Micrografx Picture Publisher 10 pro installs into the X66 Program files folder.By default it will always install into the 64 bit program file if you have a 64bit installed.
If you have the 32 bit Windows 7 installed then right click with your mouse on the program before opening it up and select compatibility mode.Select XP SP3 compatibility mode. This works fine on my Windows 7 32bit. Use the first paragraph method if you have the 64bit Windows 7.

Touch pad mouse will not move

There will be a button above the touch pad or using function key to disable it. try both and find out which is the prob. Some drivers may not installed properly. Run the touchpad driver in administrator mode and if you are having the xp driver set to xp sp3 compatible mode.

Microsoft Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 doesn't work

Hi
If you take the batteries out there is a screw in there. unscrew and open (not easy) with flat knife in the edges wiggling.
attach and touch all the inside wires. I have had the same problem and it is an internal connector problem. Opening and closing aint easy and will take a little patience but it will work.
Good luck
