Yes, it works to the system.
I just reduce the refresh rate of my Monitor and the FLICKERING problem goes for the while.

But, after 5 mins. it starts doing the same but the frequency of FLICKERING of going off the brightness is not same after changing the refresh rate.

Will you please tell me how this thing works.

Why does screen go black after a few seconds

Hope this helps.... Your monitor has an inverter issue. You know it's an inverter problem when:
1. Your monitor starts normally and displays the startup/desktop screen for a while.
2. Then it suddenly goes off, leaving a blank (black) screen or a very dim display.

To fix this black screen problem, change the inverter board (based on your monitor brand).

The screen goes blank after 1 second display, flicks back again to the display for 1 second and back to blank, this goes on non stop. The little led next to the on/off button goes from green to yellow...

pandres, Your monitor will need troubleshooting to find out reason why the 2 "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamps" fail to remain lighted. They provide "white light" so you can see what is on the lcd panel. Connect a "known good" monitor to your pc to prove monitor is bad. If pc is ok, then your monitor will need repair. This type problem not new and is very common for all brands of ccfl back-lit lcd monitors. Watch some video clips at YOUTUBE that show disassembly and repair of ccfl lcd monitors. The panel initially displays and then goes blank

johnerm, Good going John! At least YOU tried doing a swapout to another KNOWN GOOD pc to prove out that the E153FP is indeed the culprit!!! Now for the hard part. Do you have a bright flashlight? Reconnect E153FP to pc with WIN-desktop as the displayed image. then and only then turn on E153FP and note the time it takes to GO TO BLACK SCREEN. Is it 1, 2, --5,---20 seconds???? Now point at different angels about 1 inch from screen a bright flashlight to an area that "should" have a desktop "icon" showing. LOOK very closely!! If you SEE a very faint image of the desktop the units "switch-mode-power-supply" is in PARTIAL SHUTDOWN mode. (still has +5v or +3.3v to supply vga/lcd interface board) If you SEE NOTHING, then SMPS is in FULL SHUTDOWN mode. Get back to me, 12fixlouie with your SMPS flashlight evaluation and pay a visit to YOUTUBE fyi search and view video clips of "LCD monitor disassembly" and "LCD monitor repair" to see if DIY interests you! Also try run by another tech on fixya nickname "buddymc" fyi. If this was of some help, rate this response on fixya. 12fixlouie aka louie12fix or lmistyrel @

Dell 17inch flat screen monitor will not remain on, the screen go

If your Dell monitor still under into warranty, better to call Dell technical support and have them replace your monitor coz there is no way you can fix on it.

If the monitor is beyond with the warranty already, better to but a new one than taking it repair that will cost you much.

Thank you.

Screen goes blank

Hi jkm007, Sounds like the back light inverter board is bad. It's a very common problem. LCD's use four small cold compact fluorescent bulbs to back light the display. (thats what gives the LCD it's brightness allowing you to see it) The inverter board runs these lights and when they go bad they will typically show symptoms like you have or the monitor power light comes on and you have either no display or a very dim display. If you ever have one that has no display but the power light is on you can check by shining a flashlight directly into the LCD from the front (right into the screen) if you can see an image then it's either the inverter board (most likely) or the CCFL bulbs have gone bad. The inverter board and CCFL's are replaceable. Good Luck, El Duderino
