Question about Kenmore Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a Kenmore washer model 110.81620100 that has completly stopped working. It's in the garage and pipes froze in winter. When it warmed up I ran the washer-got water-but smelled like burning rubber. I turned the machine off and let cool down, and now it won't turn on at all on any cycle. Someone said check the fuse, but I don't know where that is located-cannot find any websites for this model. Others say it may have burnt the pump or motor?

Here is a website link to your washer just click on the link and it will have your modle number listed below and the list of subcomponents. It is probable your motor as most kenmore top loaders do not have a fuse. Some older maytags did,...but not kenmore. Here is the link. Good luck! Don't hesitate to write back if you have further questions. I really think you need a motor though.

Ouch washer wouldn't fill because the water line was frozen. Now it will wash but won't spin out. It is in the garage and it is -6C

The only thing to do is wait for it to warm up enough to know if the cold is causing the problem. Could be ice

Wiper fluid keeps freezing drained all old wiper fluid and put in rain x -25 and it still froze

Rain X should have alleviated the freezing problem assuming that you circulated enough of it through the tubing and through the nozzles before it froze again.

Maybe try to disassemble the nozzle and soak in the Rain X solution or warm water to unfreeze it.

Trace the piping or tubing to the place where the frozen water exists and eliminate the ice by warming it up.

You may take the whole vehicle to a heated garage and let it thaw out, then circulate the fluid by pushing the button or switch to operate the windshield wiper fluid pump.

Insulation only slows down the transfer of heat (cold), it does not stop it. If it is below freezing and the water in any pipe is not moving, it will eventually freeze. Most major industrial supply houses like McMaster-Carr or Grainger in the US, carry pipe tracing tape. It comes in various lengths and you secure it to the pipe under the insulation, plug it in and many types have integral thermostats that keep the pipe above freezing. If you have a washing machine, you will have to consider the lines to the washer valves, both hot & cold and any other areas in the washer that may hold water like the pump and the discharge hoses.

Refrigerator/freezer in garage doesn't keep food frozen in winter

Yes there is a solution. You need to install a garage Thermostat Heater. This will trick the thermostat into thinking it is in a warm environment. This article will tell you why this is happening and the solution as I described. Sorry but for some reason I cannot post this as a link. The dealer is full of garbage. This is a common issue with Accords. It will only get worse until they stop working. Fight them to replace them.

Its most likely the rubber tubing, and sack that connect the drum to the drain pump. You can either remove the back panel, or the panel in the bottom front of your washer to check for cracks in the rubber. It might be as simple as the tube came out of place during the move.
