Question about Blenders

1 Answer

My smart power duet blender/food processor BFP-703 series JUST STOPPED WORKING ? My husband mixed a milk shake and it worked fine. Then he went to run some water in the blender to clean it out, and IT WOULD NOT WORK ??? I think the motor or the push buttons on the panel are broken?? I do not understand, we have only used the blender for milk shakes. We have never even used the food processor at all. How do I go about getting this repaired? I'm sure it is out of warrenty, and I do not have the receipt. I live in downtown Minneapolis, Mn. 55401 and I can not find a small appliance repair store, that will even look at this machine :0( Please can you help!

Yes/NO :0) I thought they might suggest throwing the blender out, but I was hoping I could find a small appliance repair shop in my area just to look at the motor befor I thre it out. I guess I am OLD FASHIONED :0( I would rather repair then throw it in the landfill/dump :0(

I'm sorry, you don't have to pay for this answer. My recommendation is to toss it and buy a new one. I see they are only about $100 online. I would guess the only way to get it fixed is to send it in to the manufacturer and get it rebuilt, which would cost close to the same, even if it only cost half as much its not really worth it with postage and the hassle. Sorry.

The rotor on the base for the food processor will not engage. It spins freely, and the black wheel on the bottom rotates, but does not engage the blade spindle. Why?

Usuallt, it is simple - you have the position the gear box of the food processor side until there is no gap between the gear box and the teeth on the base - this usually takes me a few tries to get it right.

If you are confident that there is no gap, call Cuisinart and see about getting a new gear box - 1-800-726-0190

Broken gear on BFP-703 base

The drive is replacable and available from Cuisinart, you will have to sign a waver to get the part. the drive is screwed onto the motor shaft with reverse threads. the plastic drive will have to be completely broken off of the unit to expose a brass"nut" which was internal to the drive. depending upon your model you may have to remove the lower half of the base unit to access the lower part of the motor shaft. there will be a slot in the end of the shaft for a large flat blade screwdriver. this is used to hold the shaft still while turning the drive "nut" with a vice grip pliar or similar. the new drive is just threaded onto the shaft and normal operation tightens it.
