Question about Bosch HCBG500, 5 Pc Industrial Hammer Drill Bit Set

1 Answer

Throwing oil I own a Bosch "Bull Dog" hammer drill, model #11228VSR. I loaned it to my neighbor a few years ago and noticed later that it now leaks oil out around the rubber gasket near shaft. I believe he over heated something. It still works, but when it warms up it leaks oil around the rubber gasket near the body and drill shaft. Any help on a self fix would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: throwing oil

I really dont worry about the leak near the shaft because with out the oil in the shaft there is a possibility that the shaft can jam. even dewalt new hammer when you purchase it come with the grease/lube like a toothpaste size. this is to lube the bits for the purpose the bit/shaft can move freely & also can hammer freely. our you can do is to dis-assemble the front end sleeve & remove the excess oil.will i agree weather can also change the viscosity of the oil. varsol cleaner can do the trick available at walmart.

I bought a bosch reconditioned 18 v cordless hammer drill brute litheon tough trade model 2 years ago .One day the drill started smoking .so I changed the brushes .Drill just lights up .motor buzzes .it...

The motor comes as an assembly for these tools and is not too hard to change (does require soldering) - just be warned though - most of the time with these tools when the motor or switch smokes it damages the battery as well. You may read 18v with no load, but that doesn't mean the battery is good - it needs to be tested under load to determine if it keeps voltage with an amperage draw.
My advice would be to invest in another drill - it would be money better spent in my opinion.

How do i remove the chuck from a ridgid hammer drill

Remove the REVERSE-THREAD screw at the bottom of the chuck. Set the clutch collar to the highest setting, and set the gear to the slowest setting if this drill has a 2 speed transmission. Remove the power source! Get the biggest allen wrench you can fit in the end of the chuck(the shortest leg) and tighten the chuck down around it, allowing the jaws to rest and tighten on the flats of the wrench. Lay the drill on its side(chuck toward you, handle to the left, and allen wrench to the left, horizontal to the deck. Then with a hammer(soft hammer if you care about the allen wrench) quickly and deliberately hit the allen wrench in an attempt to cause the allen wrench to spin counter clockwise. Let me know if this works for you!

Brand new Hiyachi DH24PC3 leaking oil from chuck on first use while using hammer only chisel application - is this due to overheating ?

Hi, these impact drills need greese to function properly and some modles leek more than others. As its new you could ask for a new seal, as this is what is allowing the oil to leek. Hope this helps

Hammer switch jammed on Makita HP1621K/2 Percussion Drill 2

I looked at website and it appears that you might be correct. there are 4 parts to this assembly and one of the problems might be the cam holder position #17. I would suggest that you go to their site and take a look at how the parts are supposed to be. I used the model number in the large header so this might not be the exact one that you have. Let me know and I will try and help further.
