You may have to reset the router to clear the passwords. There is a tiny reset button on the back of the router. Use the tip of a pen to hold in the button for about 10 to 15 seconds. Then you can set up a new password.

Need password for encrypted file


Ask the one who did the encryption, because that is the only reason it was encrypted with a password, so nobody else could open it without his / her permission.

Removing encryption key


To open a locked memory card, select Options > Unlock memory card. Enter the password.
If you cannot recall the password to unlock a locked
memory card, you may reformat the card, in which case
the card is unlocked and password removed.
Formatting a memory card destroys all data stored on
the card.

To encrypt the device memory,

select phone memory.
To encrypt the memory card, select memory card from the following:

settings, you cannot decrypt the memory card.
Encrypt and save key

• and save the key manually in the default folder. For
security, store the key to a safe place outside the
device. For example, you can send the key to your
computer. Enter a pass phrase for the key and a
name for the key file. The pass phrase should be long

I am trying to set up my new apple i pad to the internet and it is asking me for a password for my 3 com router where do i find it

The password that is asking you for, is the encryption key. It is the same password your computer uses to connect to the wireless system

If you do not have the password or encryption key

you will need to login to the router (usually with an IP address: 192.168.1.1)

and go into the wireless settings. There you will find the encryption type being used and the encryption key

I tried to change from WEP to WPA but the password will not go through. It makes it an unsecure line for wireless. What am I doing wrong?


The Short Answer:
Your password might not meet criteria. It also depends on whether you use a custom encryption key. If so, then you either need to create a 10-digit or 26-digit hexadecimal number (numbers 0-9 & letters a-f) depending on whether you use 64 or 128-bit encryption.

The Long Answer:
A WPA password must be between 8-63 characters long, and must only contain ASCII printable characters.
The 2Wire User Guide for the 2700 states the following:
"You can customize the following wireless settings in the Wireless Security panel.
1. From the Authentication pull-down menu, select an authentication setting: WEP-Open, WEP-Shared, or WPA-PSK.
Note: WPA-PSK authentication is supported only on HG model gateways.
Open authentication allows users to configure their wireless adapter as either Open or Shared; in either case an encryption key is required. Shared authentication allows users to configure their wireless adapter for Shared authentication, which requires an encryption key. WPA-PSK requires that users configure their wireless adapter using TKIP.
2. To use the encryption key that came with your gateway, click the Use default encryption key radio button.
To create a custom encryption key, click the Use custom encryption key radio button. If you select Use custom encryption key, you can define a 64-bit or 128-bit encryption key. For 64-bit encryption, enter a 10-digit hexadecimal number. For 128-bit encryption, enter a 26-digit hexadecimal number. A hexadecimal number uses the characters 0-9, a-f, or A-F.
3. Click SAVE"

How can I put password on my wireless router ?


Do you mean that you need to put a Password for the "Wireless Network"? i.e. network key or password to access to your wireless connection.


Access to your router, Click on "Home" then click "General Setup" icon, then you click on the "Wireless icon" check on "Security Settings" and set your "Encryption Key" (There are 4 Encryption Keys, setting one will do.

Configuring WEP:
  1. Use an ethernet cable to connect a computer to any one of the four LAN ports of the NETGEAR router.
  2. In a web browser, enter the router's IP address - either http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 by default.
  3. When prompted for a Username and Password, enter the default username and password (admin; password) unless you have already changed it. NETGEAR recommends changing the default password to increase the security of your network.
  4. Select Wireless Settings from the Setup menu in the left-hand navigation bar. n101675_image001.jpg
  5. Under Security Options, select WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy).
  6. From Security Encryption (WEP) > Authentication Type, select Automatic.

  8. From Security Encryption (WEP) Key, select Key 1 and enter a key.

Dell password authentication system explained :

The BIOS of most modern computers also allow a password to be set for each of the connected hard drives. This password is stored in the service area of the hard disk. Because of this, moving the password protected hard drive to a new computer does not allow access to the hard drive unless the password that was assigned to the hard drive is provided.
The ATA Security Mode Feature Set that is implemented in all modern hard drives actually provides for two passwords, a "Master Password" and a "User Password"
The User Password locks the hard drive and the Master Password is only used to allow an administrator to reset the user password.
The BIOS of many computers will not allow the master password for the hard drive to be changed from the default, so they rarely are. How do I get my WEP key from my router


You normaly generate your own WEP key. A WEP key is a password to log in to your wirless network. Log into your router go to wireless settings some were on this page you will see WEp key gernate password phrase and like Key 1 , Key 2, Key 3 anyway go to Key 1 type in the password you want and click save settings..... Dont forget your password or you will half to hit the reset button on your router

What is WEP and WPA encryption


WEP is like a clear connection with no encryption only to get this connection you need to enter key number and password.
WPA is more like encrypted connection and to that also you shall enter key number and password.

In today's wireliss connection speed there's no differences and you better use WEP since they got less connectivity problems

How do i password protect my Router???


follow the steps below:

  1. Connect a computer to any one of the four LAN ports of the Belkin wireless router.
  2. Open your web browser and type the router IP address of the router (by default, the address is http://192.168.2.1.) in the address bar and press Enter.
  3. Click Login on the top of the page to login to the router. By default the Password is left blank, click Submit.
  4. Click Security under Wireless menu.
  5. Under Security, you can select 64 bit WEP (or 128 bit WEP) or WPA/WPA2-personal (PSK). Note: make sure that your wireless computers will be able to support WPA encryption since not all wireless cards/adapters will be able to. if you're not sure, WEP is the encryption to use
Configuring WEP Encryption:

  1. 1. Select Key 1 and enter any 10 hexadecimal digits - any combination of 0-9, A-F (26 digits if you selected 128-bit as the encryption strength). You may also enter a pass phrase and have the router generate a key for you.
  2. 2. Apply the settings. Please write down the key – You will need it later to configure your wireless computers with the same key.
Configuring WPA-PSK Encryption:

  1. Select WPA2-PSK as your Authentication
  2. Select AES as the Encryption Technique.
  3. Enter a word or group of characters in the Password (PSK) box. The Pre-Shared Key must be 8 to 63 characters in length.
    Note: The PSK (Pre-Shared Key) is case sensitive ("A" is different than "a")
  4. Click Apply changes to save the settings.
once you have enabled your wireless security, you need to reconnect your wireless computer to the wireless signal using your wireless password/network key.
