Does every number have to be taken only once?
If order is important you have 11P7=1663200 permutations (different from combinations)
If order is not important for example 1,2,3,4,5,6,7---- 2,1,3,4,5,6,7----2,3,1,4,5,6,7----2,3,4,1,5,6,7 etc are all one and the same then you have
11C7 =330 combinations.
You get them by mere obstinacy: take a pad and start. It is only 330.

Testimonial: "Thanks. Can you do it on an excel spreadsheet, and if so, what is the formula?"

  • k24674 Dec 14, 2013

There is no formula, You do it by hand or you write a program based on a precise algorithm that gets you all the combinations. Think about how you would proceed by hand and convert that into pseudo-code, then into a program in C, C++, java, basic, whatever programming language you master.

try resetting it... Will probably rid you of your problem.

2nd>Mem(+ sign)>reset> right 2c(ALL at top should be highlighted)>yes

You will need to reload all your programs, and while your at it you should probably update the OS from the TI site...

Definitely not by asking in a forum. You could get a walkthrough, but that's not solving the problem.
This one is down to reading the calculator manual and your textbook a bit, then satisfying yourself that your answer and the definitions for those types of average are in accord. Mode is clearly an oddball which would make more sense with more context, but for now just pick the most common number, which is a set: (7, 10, 11).
That sounded better than 'toss-up between 7, 10 and 11,' did it not?

SOURCE: On a TI-84 or 83, after a memory clear,

try this: [2nd] [+] [3] [ENTER], that clears ALL entries and should "stirr up" the randomness

How do I set a new combination if I don't know the oldone. Tehe suitecase is open. tks Leo

What follows are Samsonite's own instructions. Note that they don't work on the new Samsonite CURV though, but you didn't say which case you have:-

"The following are the lock picking instructions you requested from Samsonite Consumer Relations.
1. Position the luggage so that the numbers on the wheel are
right-side-up as they face you and set all three wheels to “0′.
2. Starting with the wheel on the left, to the right of the wheel,
look into the narrow space between the right side of the wheel and
the body of the lock. Look down into the shaft. (If you have a
safety pin, straight pin, or thin nail file, place that in the
narrow space.)
3. While looking down into the shaft, rotate the wheel slowly. You
are looking for an indentation (a square notch). When you find
the indentation, stop and write the number down. (If you are using
a tool, the tool will fall into the indentation.)
4. Follow the process for the remaining two wheels.
5. Try to open the piece of luggage.
6. If the luggage still will not open, please try the following:
a) If the number on the wheel is over 5, subtract 5 from the
number showing. For example, if the number showing is 8 turn
the wheel to 3 because 8-5=3.
b) If the number is under 5, add 5 to the number showing. For
example if the number showing is 2 turn the wheel to 7
because 2+5=7. The numbers showing on the wheels will be
your combination.
If you still have a problem with the combination lock, contact the nearest authorized repair center to your zip code for repair assistance. Our warranty and repair information can be viewed at http://www.samsonite.com under the heading “Customer Service Repair Centers” for your reference."

Please note that I've simply cut and pasted this answer from an identical question from a few days ago, but it did resolve the question and there's no point in me re-inventing the wheel. If you want to see the original question and answer then please click here.

I have a texas instrument TI-36X calculator

Hi,
Use the [a b/c] key.
7 [a b/c] 11 displays 7u11. Numerator can have up to 6 digits. Denominator can have up to 3 digits
7[1 b/c] 11 [a b/c] 19 displays 7u11u19 meaning 7 and 11/19. The vaiois numbers can have up to three digits each, but the total number of digits must be less than or equal to 8.

The key combination [2nd][d/c] toggles display between mixed numbers and improper fractions.
The key combination [3rd][F<=>D] switches between fraction and decimals. (Not all decimals can beconverted to fractions: see limitations above).

Hoe it helps.

How many numbers are in the combination?...if it is a 3 number system it should be easy.

All you have to do is press program & type in the factory code 2 times & that will erase the number you created.

Then to add a new combination all you have to do is: press program followed by 5 new numbers. Then to see if they new number works, just type in the new combination & the green light should come on & you have 4 seconds to turn the handle
