SLOW OPENING FILES

your PCs husband died, sorry my bad.... LOL
slow is a subjective term , to me all PCs are slow.
(unless I lay my grimy mitts on them)
How much RAM do you have 1gig?
is your HDD full?
did you upgrade to SSD but wise if fast is your aim,
is the PC infected. ?
is your AV engine running, at least windows defender + free malwarebytes.
what music where, mp3 files in a folder? or what are they?
the extension of the file name matters. mp3 is common,
wav is too but are huge and slow, but best sound of all.
how many are there, 10 or 10,000.?
what player are you using,.?
I'd never touch MS media player ever. not me,?
run fast free players that don't track you.
if most windows screens are fast, and only MP3s are slow
say that first. if all things are slow say that. I can not guess or see you do things. (my PC has over 100apps and runs fast)

if all of windows acts slow run CCcleaner, free. find the free on.
defrag your hdd if it is a hdd,
if the hdd is near full , clean it out of old things not need
or clone it to a larger HDD. better to SSD.

Speed gradually reduces as u fill the HDD...how mush is your HDD filled?

Just open VLC (make sure you have the latest version) then click
option 1) Media > Open Folder choose the drive / folder containing the SLC files then hit the "Select Folder" button.
option 2) Media > Open Multiple Files > Add Files > mark all the SLC files then then hit the "Open" button.

If VLC fails Try Media Player Classic!

try copying the movie to pc....if entire file copies then there should be no problem playing it...if it cant copy or read there there must be some problem with the file or hdd.....

Open up Folder Options\View\Show Hidden Files and Folders. Return to your Toshiba HDD. Do you see an hidden files? If so, try to delete them. You may have to change the Properties of these Folders\Files in order to delete them. BE WARNED, removing or deleting any folders or files that Toshiba placed in there could have negative affects on the way your external HDD runs.

I have all my Lotus files on a server and am not experiencing this problem. Did you install the desktop version or the network version. Mine is desktop and I get my files off the server. Works well.

- Clean WIndows registry and run defragmenter. This can reduce registry errors and reduce its size, so as to speed up application response. Here is a free registry defrag tool which I feel quite easy to use.

try deleting history, cookies and other internet files that are no good. if that doesn't work try to defrag your computer and/or download a new web browser. 

have you cleaned out temp files? Go to start, all programs. Accessories, system tools, run the disk clean up. MSN has good support sites to help with your problem. also delete all cookies and history. you my have way to much old files.
